Better than I expected, but the lyrical material does get quite repetitive. Beats engaging and unpredictable, and honestly perfect length. Good π
I finally understand it.
Around 2 years ago I did not get the Playboi Carti hype or anything. I thought it was shit gibberish, but now that I’ve listened to Whole Lotta Red (and have listened to many other things from him) I have reached that stage. The transition and realisation that Playboi Carti isn’t a mumble rapper. He’s an inventor and envisioner. Truly one of a kind
Whilst not as good as Frailty or Revengeseekerz, you have to give props to Jane Remover as they create an ambitious, and open minded project that takes its time and does what it wants to do, and does it quite well
I like the production and vulnerability on a lot of these tracks, with most of the album being quite consistent overall, but it really could do with being shorter in length
I am so glad I listened to this album π’ It’s so beautiful. I’ve never truly appreciated Vince Staples’ artistry until now as I’ve never properly listened to him before this but wow. Just wow. I was blown away by this, every song, EVERY SONG IS BRILLIANT. Can’t believe it. Will definetely be listening to more stuff from him in the future. Definitely. Amazing π
My question is, WHAT HAPPENED HERE? The beats are so basic, no new change in direction from 21, SO PAINFULLY BORING!!!! Some of the songs like DOG $HIT and I WISH are fine, and maybe even good. But come on, most of this literally sounds like it uses some YouTube beat called “CASH IN: 21 SAVAGE TYPE BEAT”. ππ«
Some things I like and some things I don’t like about this album. A part of his music style is that he layers his vocals a lot and sometimes mixes it in with the background, making it harder for me to hear what he’s saying, and sometimes not working with the rest of what’s going on. I still really like this album and found 3 or 4 songs that will definitely make my rotation. Very good π
[RATING AND REVIEW IS ONLY FOR THE DELUXE SONGS]
Role Model is very good at making easy going and listenable songs, which this deluxe does very well. I love Old Recliners and Sally, When The Wine Runs Out. But the other top songs don’t too much for me. Very good π
