Goddamn, what an experience!
I absolutely fucking loved this, maybe even more than Cosmogramma! Just gonna get my only problem out of the way, the vocals are a bit of a mixed bag and particularly on the track "The Boys Who Died..." the vocal performances are awkward, to put it lightly. Outside of that, this record is simply amazing. The jazzy elements work so perfectly in tandem with the electronic elements presented, and listening through this while playing a game in the background, ... read more
A very cute and fun album filled with very laidback and nice instrumentals, and vocals that... could've been better, to say the least. There were also some weird lyrics on this one, but it's not the end of the world. It's a nice album that I don't really see myself returning to outside of a song or two.
me, 2 minutes into this: "i don't think corey feldman is real"
yeah, i was right
Vocals didn't really do much for me, and the mixing is kind of weak, but it's mostly fine. A decent project to kick off the new year, but nothing amazing.
This has some very beautiful moments, but it just didn't hold my attention very well at all.
This is probably the scariest thing I've ever had to write in a review, but it has to be said: this is the worse version, and it always has been. Right, now that half of you have either left or are currently hovering your mouse over the block button, let's continue. So, I think my biggest problem with MtM aside from it being one of the roughest sounding albums I've probably ever heard, is that I have no reason to ever revisit it. Everything about FtF is more memorable and enjoyable to me. I've ... read more
79->90 what the FUCK was i on about.
As great as this is instrumentally, the same general structure and lyrical themes got to be a bit tiresome after a while, especially since the lyrics weren't particularly well written in the first place.
Pretty sure this is my first death metal album, and apparently it's a terrible starting point? I must be doing something wrong then because this thing fucks SO hard. Fantastic instrumentation and the exact type of vocals you'd expect. Sure, there's not much variety in terms of the sound, but when the music sounds this good does it even matter?
A pretty unique oddity in the abstract hip hop landscape. Some tracks felt a bit like they followed a similar formula, but for the most part, this was an interesting and strange listen that leaves a great impression.
Swans are an act who mean a lot more to me than I often let on. Despite the fact that I've only heard each of their albums once, returning to them only on the rarest of occasions, they're singlehandedly responsible for my love and exploration of more experimental forms of music, and for that, I owe them everything. Although many of their albums rank amongst my favorites of all time, despite only hearing it once two minutes ago, I already know that "The Glowing Man" is my favorite of ... read more
This beautiful, soothing record is a faithful and loving tribute to Nick Drake's timeless masterpiece. As many of you may know by now, "Pink Moon" is one of my favorite albums of all time, and is currently the only album that I've heard that I could foresee eventually overtaking Porter Robinson's "Worlds" as my favorite album of all time. In terms of the albums I've heard, very few of them mean as much to me as "Pink Moon" does, so naturally I went into this ... read more
Haaveilija actually made my eyes widen with how not good parts of it sounded
Yeah, I don't know what you want me to say guys, this thing just isn't good. There are countless moments where the instrumentals here come together awkwardly, and nothing here is played to any level of expertise. There's parts of this that sound like a kid's band rehearsal, parts that sound like the band tuning their instruments while they PREPARE to play a song, and so many fucking moments where the instrumentals here ... read more
MIKE comes in at the end of the year with a tape that is short and enjoyable, albeit very rushed and sloppy in some areas.
