I thought maybe all the bad reviews were just people hating on X, but this album is really that bad.
Literally just a Young Thug clone. That being said Young Thug can go pretty hard, so not terrible.
This album goes stupid hard. Unfortunately it influenced a bunch of terrible shout-trap rappers.
An extremely lame trap album. The Rick and Morty skit at the beginning says it all.
From time to time Tory will come through with some solid bars, however most of his (rap) lyrics feel like filler. When he sings, the lyrics are almost always generic. Some of his flows sound very Drake-ish and overall the project does have a Drake vibe. Missed an opportunity to talk about his mother's death more. Overall not trash, but not memorable by any means.
Has a couple decent bangers but honestly he sounds like everyone else out of Memphis right now, especially Dolph. Has some good lines for dudes that want to sound tough in instagram captions.
Boring, uninspired and corny. Very basic ideas and generic beats making it an extremely tough listen. This project is symbolic of the watering down of trap music in hip hop today. Nav-esque
Better than Karma and Paranoia (1). East's bars are better in this project and his story telling is much better too. East is in his bag when he's on his classic New York lyricist flow, when he tries to make radio songs or trap music the quality can suffer. The stories on here are interesting and he carries himself with trademark New York swag a la Cam'ron. However, some of the songs are a little repetitive both in topics, lyrics and sound. While not quite as developed and varied as Kairi ... read more
A true return to form for Krizzle. This is a very southern album, covering many sounds you will hear in Southern music. Great to hear Krit make timeless music again and return to his trademark Southern inspired lyricism that made Return of 4eva a classic. I enjoy the two sided idea of the album, showing the glitz and glamour that is presented by many rap stars today, as well as the more personal and private issues Krit faces on a daily basis.
Very solid project from front to back. Lost a little steam with some of the love songs at the back end, but those songs were by no means bad. Rapsody lyrically is extremely sound and on this album she spits some absolute bars. She is an extremely underrated mc, and she really puts on for the culture.
Decent album, has some good bangers. East showcases his lyricism on a couple songs and has some raw lines here and there. However, I feel like East is trying to do too much and try different types of music. He has said in the past that he is trying to branch out, but his lane is more of classic New York lyricist, not a trap rapper. While some of the trap songs on here were decent, the album would have been better if he stuck to what makes him unique in the new wave of rappers. Some of the ... read more
Gritty dark album that has bars for days. It takes many listens to really pick up on all the subtle wordplay and hidden meanings. Really a cold and introspective album.
A really bad album. And I even sort of like(d) Smokepurpp based on his SoundCloud singles. Had a couple good songs, although they were the ones that already released. Most of the album runs together and sounds very similar, and while I like ignorant rap music, this is just straight up lame. Didn't have the energy I was expecting from this album
