Not terrible but he's wearing his influences (Chief Keef, GothBoiClique, Drain Gang) pretty heavily on his sleeve. If you were there for any of those at their peak this isn't that groundbreaking
I've always liked Droog albums, but this was a real surprise. Some of the best storytelling I've heard in the past few years
Pleasant little project to throw on in the background when you have a girl over and you want to prove you're "not like the other guys." Less inspired than her last album.
There are definitely some joints on here, issue is not all the yachty verses, guests verses, and beats hit all at the same time on a song, a lot of the time it was just one of the three. Still, not bad and the michigan scene is the hottest shit out atm
Is this a groundbreaking piece of music? No. But at the same time this is legitimately decent, these two [geezahs] are not a joke, like it's not a situation where it's like "Look at these two cute old men making grime, how ironic and funny!" This is legit music with some legit good tracks, it isn't a meme, which is hard to wrap my head around.
Armand Hammer, billy woods in particular, is known for their abstract poetry in their rhymes and this project is an absolutely fantastic representation of that. It is best consumed not as an album but a collection of reflections on society. Admittedly not for everyone (it took me a while to get into them, Elucid especially), this will leave its mark on the underground in 2021.
Bones is cool, but it's at the point where all his projects sounds exactly the same and not really innovative. No need to put a bunch of projects out in one year if they all have the same sound and lyrical content.
This album is not perfect, there seems to be some issues with some of the mixing and Boldy doesn't quite find every pocket in each beat, but this album is so intoxicating. A mix of jazz and experimental beats with really heartfelt and personal gangster lyrics, deeper lyrics than I've heard from Boldy in the past makes this an exceptional project.
This sounds like luxury, goes down smooth like expensive liquor. Roc continues to push himself musically and become more experimental, adding to his always memorable lyrics.
I'm sorry, this is just so nerdy and he wears his influences on his sleeve. Not bad musically, just a mélange mainstream emo rap music.
I almost cried the first time I listened to this album. I've always thought Ka rapped like some kind of prophet or monk hidden in a monastery in the mountains, so a religiously-themed album seemed like a perfect fit. This album certainly isn't for everyone, it's rap at its rawest and most stripped back, but the lyrics, as always, prove that Ka is the best lyricist in the world. Truly an experience.
P.S. for all those who can't get into this album immediately, I recommend listening to it at ... read more
Album could use some change of pace and every song is pretty similar, but Rod is one of those rappers who you can really feel what he's saying, which makes you forget some of the repetitiveness.
Pretty vanilla, nothing bad, but nothing outstanding either. Bars were good but not super deep or groundbreaking. Inoffensive album.
Key is really never saying anything on any of his projects, but it never fails to be enjoyable
