how the fuck did i take forever to listen to this. absolutely lifechanging.
This is rated way too low so I'm here to bring it up. This shit's good. Your Idol is an absolute banger. What It Sounds Like makes me cry every time I hear it. Golden is such a glittery KPop song. And I do think you have to actually watch the movie to understand a lot of the lyrics in this soundtrack.
I was skeptical at first. I'm glad I was wrong.
The first half of the album is peak Gaga: nostalgic and where she's at her best. The second half, unfortunately starts to drag and makes the album overall feel a bit slow. It felt less like MAYHEM and more like pacifism. I get that a lot of it is sentimental and reflects on multiple areas of life, but it doesn't really have a place on the album.
Overall, it's still very enjoyable though. Just not higher than a 65 to me.
I don't care that it's long, The majority of this album is beautiful and experimental and the title track made me cry. I didn't truly start listening to The Weeknd until After Hours came out but I have been a huge fan for a while, listened to all his albums and EPs in full. If this is how he closes out his career, I hope he knows the impact he's had. Beautiful beautiful beautiful.
I haven't listened to a ton of music this year because I just haven't felt connected to anything. This is the first album that has come out besides Beyoncé that, from start to finish, I truly enjoyed. You can hear the maturity and storytelling so well through exceptional production.
I think this is also an incredible album from Finneas from a production standpoint. He's been well-known for a while but has obviously received more visibility with What Was I Made For?
This is a project I ... read more
Only writing a review to say the beginning of Dumbest Girl Alive is the best opening I've ever heard. Pure nostalgia.
Was a little weary at the beginning of the album. But as it progressed, I fell more and more in love with it. There are a good amount of bangers on here. Really enjoyed it and her voice is spectacular.
The first few songs on the album are really, really good. Some of their best work in years. And then from Fake Out on, I feel like I'm listening to wannabe-emo artist Machine Gun Kelly. The closer/title track is really good, though. It's a shame the majority of this record is below mid, not even average. If they tried to follow the same formula as Love From The Other Side, I think this album would be a significant success. Unfortunately, it's nowhere close, despite being worlds better than ... read more
It's fine. It's not a typical album from The National and is a rollercoaster in terms of quality of songs and lyricism. Tropic Morning News and The Alcott are two songs that could've been the backbone of this album, but instead they're dropped in the middle of the record surrounded by just above mediocrity. Overall, disappointing especially since this was really the album I was looking forward to the most this year after I Am Easy To Find was a decent drop off from Sleep Well Beast.
This is fantastic. I think A&W might be one of the best songs I've heard in a while.
