this album is, without a doubt, the most gut-wrenching thing i have heard all year, and i admire its brutality in both lyrics and sound. however, i think it's only able to be truly experienced once, with all of its shock value and 'enjoyability,' whatever that means in regards to this release, being lessened with subsequent listens.

aagh i can't stop listening to this!! every single track has been stuck in my head since day one, and i'm very thankful for that since they're all so catchy and fun, with meaningful lyrics and amazing production throughout the album.

i absolutely feel the need to comment on this.
flamboyant as an album has a very futuristic sound to it, which certainly fits its progressive lyrics and commentary. every track on this album is extremely catchy and could have been a ... read more
in a pretty front-loaded album, kim petras proves that she has the capabilities of a pop singer, but can't do it consistently well. songs like "icy" and "all i do is cry" have this album's best moments, and these highs are what i want to expect in the future.

this is a severe downgrade from turn off the light, vol. 1, which had killer production and consistent quality throughout. clarity, on the other hand, throws that all out ... read more
As a fan of Marina, I really want to say that I like this, but I can't. Unlike her previous work, Love + Fear is bland, and outright boring for the most part. There are certainly some good tracks on here, but they aren't enough to save it. It's reminiscent of Lykke Li's transition into a mainstream sound on So Sad So Sexy—it alienated her fans and wasn't interesting enough to bring in new ones.
Biophilia is an album that combines ethereal melodies with industrial EDM in a way that no one else could ever match. This is not all it has to offer, however. Biophilia is also a metaphor for human phenomena, tied together with the overlying theme of nature. It is a one-of-a-kind experience that takes its sweet time to grow on the listener, but once familiarized, it becomes a timeless treat. Overall, the album keeps a very consistent mood and theme, allowing for its flaws to be minimal, with ... read more
If You Think I'm a Bitch, You Should Meet GFOTY is a welcome release that presents GFOTY's satirical, unpredictable sound in a more approachable way that more people can get behind. With this, however, comes a loss of charm when compared with GFOTYBUCKS. The lyrics on this EP are still humorous, but they don't throw the listener for a loop, unlike her previous compilation. As well as this, the instrumentals on this EP sound a lot more polished and complete than they did on GFOTYBUCKS, but they ... read more
Pop 2 is a very intriguing blend of the ultramodern sounds of cyberspace and current pop music that really does sound like the future, incorporating minimalistic beats and a large list of smaller featured artists. Every track on this mixtape flows into the next, but they each have their own distinctive feel, which is certainly representative of the digital age and how interconnected our society is.
I don't think that the lyrical content on Pop 2 matters as much as the mixtape's aesthetic and ... read more
