What an album. Portishead is a band that, even with only 3 studio albums, have been able to be amongst the greats of music. Their carreer starts with this album, Dummy. The album directly puts you into the atmosphere with the first song, Mysterons. The beat sounds cold and sad, and the singer, Beth Gibbons, sings beautifully about what seems to be a heartbreak (Also what a great songrwiter, she has such a way with words and imagery). Are The Velvet Underground the first alternative rock band ? I don't know, I'm not really a music historian, but what I can say is that they were very important for the creation of that genre. Managing to do some of the most repulsive and noisy songs of their times while still kinda sounding like a pop/rock band is an achievement that inspired many artists and bands that came after them.

With his band, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, he released some of the most iconic rock albums of all time, such as Electric Ladyland, the last album made by the Jimi Hendrix Experience before Hendrix's passing in 1970.

I love this guy. He's completely doing his own thing. You can't compare his style to any artist that was making music before him or at the same time as him. He mixes orchestral and electronic music in such a beautiful way while being supported by some crazy drums that really add to the uniqueness and the futuristic sound of his style.
