I say this as someone who was sorely disappointed with TTPD (a drab, unfocused mess of an album): I think The Life of a Showgirl deserves more critical engagement than people are giving it. For me, Showgirl is perhaps the most quintessential Taylor album of all - I hear nods to Reputation, Fearless, Folklore/Evermore, and the brighter moments of TTPD.
