Pitchfork

The 2015 tape may have felt more revolutionary as a shift no one saw coming, but musically, BEASTMODE 2 has the edge. And in its best moments, the unknowable rapper lays his cards on the table, vulnerable in a way he’s never been before.

Highsnobiety

With a balance of languid, relaxing ambience and Zaytoven’s jejune flair, BEASTMODE 2 is Future standing out by sticking to the script, delivering a bleak blender of messages worth revisiting – numerous times.

78
HipHopDX

Creative risks are minimal on BEASTMODE 2 and time will ultimately tell (but it’s highly unlikely) if these records will oust any top-tier cuts in his bottomless catalog (“March Madness,” “Wicked,” “Mask Off,” etc.). But there’s more than enough heat to hold fans over until his next album.

70
Spectrum Culture

Future’s a little like Pixar at this point. His classic run is generally seen as over, but he still puts out such consistent work it’s a pain to keep up with all of it. Still, Beastmode 2 is exciting because it rearranges the familiar elements of the Future schtick.

Rolling Stone

The Atlanta rapper’s latest reminds us why he’s a master of sing-rap blues even as that style begins to move beyond his massive influence.

After being inconsistent since DS2, future gives a kind of return to form on Beastmode2. It's nothing groundbreaking or barrier-pushing, but it is a succinct collection of tracks that are worth your time.

Zaytoven's beats are getting really one note now. Really like Hate The Real Me as a closer

Future certainly isn't the problem here - he tries to do his best to flow over beats that sound repetitive. This has, and always will be, Zaytoven's biggest issue - his beats offer minimal variation, to the point that they affect the overall sound and appeal of a talented rapper's project.
