The production seriously ruins this entire album. With all of the dense, gritty mixing of 10,000 Days stripped these songs are left feeling completely empty.
awesome to see the blue must hear! while i do think this is one of Tool's weaker works for sure, i do feel it to be just a little bit underrated; sure the interludes are kind of odd but the musical content itself i find to be a good bit lovely. (i am TOTALLY not a Tool fanboy)
Really enjoyed this. The songs are super immersive, enough to make up for the length. Interludes kinda suck (Tool go figure), but 7empest is like top 5 in their discography
This is not a bad album, the only negative points I have is the tracks are a little drawn out and the runtime of the entire project is almost ridiculous.
Everything here sounds better live. Listening to these studio versions after the fact leaves me so disappointed. They’re so aimless and clean, when you just feel the actual distorted power of it which hasn’t been nail filed with modern metal production the material here is great.
Yeah I get why people don't like this one. None of the songs sound bad, but they are all so similar that it makes none of the tracks stand out. I do like the ambient interludes and phases between tracks.
