Perhaps because of this subtlety, at first listen Kiasmos feels like a laying-down of ground rules – as if the pair are setting a safe benchmark from which they can make more experimental, more risky forays into this territory in the future. Listen to it a few more times, though, and you can’t help feeling like ‘safe’ for these guys really isn’t that safe.
Kiasmos has the feel of one of those albums that electronic heads will continue to celebrate with each passing decade, a work incomparable to any of its contemporaries that elevates the conversation for them all.
With echoes of the gentle, pastoral quality of Four Tet’s early albums, Kiasmos is understated almost to a fault but nevertheless immersive.
REVIEW REPOST #059. I repost my old reviews, which got no attention, with updated thoughts. Posted this review two years ago (a long time ago) but I'm posting it again.

Sounds absolutely gorgeous, although I think the first 5 tracks are ... read more
A tad derivative of Jon Hopkins Immunity, but when your point of reference is that good and you got the production chops to match it, well... the result is a damn fine album.
Damn this was great. The self titled debut from Electronic music duo Kiasmos is a great Ambient Techno album blending in Downtempo and Progressive House. The ideas presented on here are wonderful and the production is top notch. There’s tons of great tracks on here and my only real complaint is that this album doesn’t stay as great as the first 5 tracks are. I could get rid of tracks 6-7 and be perfectly fine without them (did bro just say 6-7? 💀💀 get ts dude out of ... read more
Had to listen to something good to cleanse my ears of The Labrini Girls' album... This is a beautiful album if you're into progressive house/ambient techno and perfect to put on during a busy day at work where you need to get stuff done.
I'm too attached to this album to properly review it. Basically, if you want to know me better as a person, listen to this, cuz I've listened to it more times than I can count.
