He seems like a featured artist on his own album, which would be standard issue for other producers turned artist, but not Guetta.
That’s where Listen falls short. Despite its all-but-guaranteed success, it may not bring Guetta anywhere he hasn’t already been over the past 30 years.
While it lacks cohesion, Listen is a polished production on which the Frenchman’s signature dance-pop lurks a little more discreetly in the background.
The songwriting remains basic ... But the album sounds consistently great, achieving 3D spatiality that works for earbuds and stadiums alike.
Listen still delivers the familiar crowd-pleasing builds and drops, the formulaic song structures.
There’s some perfectly good pop production on show here, but it’s overshadowed by the desire to weld the ill-fitting trademark builds, compressed kicks and swarming synths on to everything in sight.

Favs: Dangerous, Bang my head, Hey Mama

Probably the only David Guetta I recommend for an EDM binge. Still, he feels like a feature on his own album and some songs were carried by Avicii and others production.
Best Songs: What I Did for Love, Lovers on the Sun, Bang My Head, Sun Goes Down, Stop
