He seems like a featured artist on his own album, which would be standard issue for other producers turned artist, but not Guetta.

That’s where Listen falls short. Despite its all-but-guaranteed success, it may not bring Guetta anywhere he hasn’t already been over the past 30 years.

The Telegraph
Each track has the invention to be a smash hit but the cumulative effect is rather wearing, an album of no emotional depth, in which everyone is going all out to deliver the big single.

While it lacks cohesion, Listen is a polished production on which the Frenchman’s signature dance-pop lurks a little more discreetly in the background.

NME
‘Listen’ speckles similar crackers (‘Goodbye Friend’, ‘Hey Mama’) between gushes of sizzle sewage, as if all of Ibiza’s been trying to get high on glittery laxatives.

Rolling Stone

The songwriting remains basic ... But the album sounds consistently great, achieving 3D spatiality that works for earbuds and stadiums alike.

The Sydney Morning Herald
What the record lacks is intimacy and a moment's stillness – everyone is charging ahead.

The Observer

Listen still delivers the familiar crowd-pleasing builds and drops, the formulaic song structures.

The Arts Desk

There’s some perfectly good pop production on show here, but it’s overshadowed by the desire to weld the ill-fitting trademark builds, compressed kicks and swarming synths on to everything in sight.

For the most part ... Listen is a plodder rather than a thriller, a run of tracks which sound half-cooked and unfinished rather than bursting with vim and vigour.

Even in this lighter mode, the music only serves to kick more dirt on EDM’s grave.

Finished my First Listen. I prefer this to the album before this but there is a lot of songs that just don't hit but some album tracks are worth listening to. The bridge on 'Bang my head' is so great, Sam Martin does well on both songs he's featured on, and Hey mama is another catchy banger.

Favs: Dangerous, Bang my head, Hey Mama
Least Fav: Yesterday

Well… I kind of wish I didn’t listen. Guetta’s been in the game for a long time, but the real question is — has he ever really stepped it up? With Listen, the answer is a pretty clear no.

Clocking in at 14 tracks and nearly 50 minutes, this album somehow feels even longer than that. There’s just not enough here to keep you truly engaged. The production feels generic, uninspired, and formulaic like Guetta was just checking boxes rather than really giving it his ... read more

Probably the only David Guetta I recommend for an EDM binge. Still, he feels like a feature on his own album and some songs were carried by Avicii and others production.

Best Songs: What I Did for Love, Lovers on the Sun, Bang My Head, Sun Goes Down, Stop

Worst Song: Hey Mama (So annoying and overrated!!!)
