Despite a fairly catastrophic mid-album dip in quality, there are enough of the big soaring numbers, and a smattering of new ideas to see him through.
This is not an album that can by any measure be called a masterwork, or even one of the better entries in what is quickly becoming an impressive-sized discography.
Destroyed is the type of low-stakes atmospheric mush that lounges and airports and bars play to make you forget where you are.
Destroyed is a pretty good album overall. Its experimental electronic elements are very unique, its self-contained but expansive feel is cool and its production is interesting, making it stand out in Moby’s discography. Yes, some songs are underwritten and a little tedious and it’s a bit bloated, but there are plenty of moments where that Moby magic shines through! It’s grown on me a lot.
