Fans of the band should be very satisfied with Torture, as the band has remained who they are even 12 albums in.

Where countless other death metal bands have quietly slipped away, Cannibal Corpse remains; a little bit bloodied, but still unbroken.

AllMusic

The band continues to push its sound to brutal new limits.

Proverbial showers not growers, the death vets continue winning/killing streak of their last three records.

Record Collector

Like its predecessors Kill (2006) and Evisceration Plague (2009), Torture comes coated in a smoothly polished production courtesy of producer Erik Rutan of Hate Eternal; somehow, this makes the songs even more intimidating.

Cannibal Corpse drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz's description of one aspect of 12th studio album "Torture" as "the frenzied attack of 'Butchered at Birth' (1991) or 'Tomb Of The Mutilated' (1992)", is quite accurate.

Consequence of Sound

The sounds on Torture are pretty much identical to what you hear on every other record by Cannibal Corpse: If it ain’t broke, they aren’t fixing it.

Horrible nonsense - in a good way.

Definitely rejuvenated their discography a little bit as some of the songs on here became classics of theirs. I don't think they've made a bad record anyways though.

Demented Aggression begins in fast furious fashion, bit more of a grind influence, pretty solid riffs with great energy. Sarcophagic Frenzy is definitely in their standard realm but a pretty solid tune as well, more general ferocity on this one. It's a sharp tone.

Scourge of Iron is one of those classics, absolute ... read more

Torture sets the bar high for the new era of the band. Filled with more technical playing and justified production that brightens and emboldens the bands song writing showing there is much rich territory to be explored.

This album was surprisingly technical and complex, as well as a great continuation for the band showing that they refuse to dip in quality. Songs like “intestinal crank” include odd time sigs, syncopation, and poly rhythms. Now this isn’t usually a massive stand out, but for a band known for their raw and brutal sound, the group manages to mix these two feels together very well.
Highlights: scourge of iron, intestinal crank, followed home then killed

Torture is the absolute peak of Cannibal Corpse. The way the songs are written makes this album sound exhilaratingly VIOLENT through and through. The riffs are the best they're ever been and the instrumenation on here lifts Corpsgrinder's voice to a whole new level. This is without a doubt the best Cannibal Corpse album.
