Pitchfork
Breezy, uplifting, and never forced, the Jamaican reggae star’s debut imbues the ennui and uncertainty of this epoch with much-needed positivity.
80
NME
The hotly-tipped Jamaican artist, who already has a Grammy to her name, confidently flits between reggae, dancehall and R&B on her assured debut album.
80
Beats Per Minute

While it finds the singer consistently laid back, Gifted pushes forward constantly – displaying its creator’s unique resolve.

80
Rolling Stone
Barack Obama and Harry Styles are already fans. Now, the rising Jamaican star is living up to her great expectations with a brilliant album.
80
Clash
An excellent debut record, it offers a tantalising glimpe of what lies ahead.
80
The Guardian
The debut album from Koffee, AKA Mikayla Simpson, skilfully occupies the space between Afrobeats, dancehall and pop.
80
The Telegraph

Gifted keeps giving: Koffee achieves a brilliantly confident debut with the promise of more good things to come.

80
Evening Standard
The Grammy-winner’s infectiously positive album is a strong contender for sound of the summer.
70
Crack Magazine

Gifted feels more like a reset than a culmination – a personal exploration into the music that has shaped her. And this is no bad thing.

60
Slant Magazine

On Gifted, Koffee alternates between earnestly expressing her gratitude to be alive and confidently resting on her laurels.

I just want readers to know that the current '61' average User Score on this album is misleading. I was so anxious going into this listen, expecting to be disappointed. While the album feels safe and a little bit Disney- it's cute. It's young. It's Jamaican. I like it.

"Pull Up" is THAT song. This song has got me grooving down the isles of the Key Foods and is going on all my rooftop jams playlists for the summer. Still processing other favorites but I would definitely start with ... read more

Koffee’s 2019 EP Rapture made the world take note that she would be someone to watch in years to come and her album debut Gifted reassures it. Spanning 10 tracks and 28 minutes, Koffee excuses confidence and positivity over tracks that mix traditional reggae with some modern trap production and catchy hooks. Koffee doesn’t just make you feel carefree, but also makes you aware of the harsh realities of life in Jamaica. Gifted hits all the right marks and allows to see what all Koffee ... read more

6/2 — Fun and summery, good background vibes to your fun day at the beach, but nothing that grabbed my attention

'where im from' is so slept onnn onggggg

10 quick fire bursts of perfect Jamaican rootsy R&B, including the brilliant 'Lockdown'. 'Lonely' is a smooth reggae number. Others, like 'Where I'm From' are a bit more gritty and experimental - i love the distant church choir. 'West Indies' is probably my favourite.
