This was a recommendation from @UltimateLifeFrm. Some Cities has got some dope tunes. My biggest problem comes with the vocal effect choices, as I feel like certain songs would've better benefited from none at all. The title track in particular is the one I vibed with most, and it's about as straightforward as you can get for indie rock.

I don't know too much about the band's discography however, and if what they've made in the past and future is anything like this, I think I would seriously ... read more

Sound (late) Britpop album with it's highlights on side A of the vinyl: the title track "Some Cities"; "Black And White Town" (my favouite cut of the album) and "Snowden". It's the third of five Dove albums until today and probably the medium best of them.

The third album by Doves isn't a bad album by any means - but it's just such a big step down from Lost Souls and The Last Broadcast that it actually kind of hurts, and I do think it is their weakest album. Absolutely great album, highly recommend. I like to think this album sounds like the Big Bang, just an explosion of sound coming out of nothing. I love the atmospheric sounds on songs like Snowden and The Storm, I love the energy of Walk In Fire and Black and White Town. The production on this album is insane, sonically perfect to me. The only reason I can't give this album 100 is because for me at least it has some mediocre song writing in one or two songs, but other than that its ... read more
