Compared to that sophomore effort, this eponymous first salvo can't help but sound formative, but it still contains plenty of exciting material for KE diehards, while embodying the curious conundrum of a transitory feel, despite there not being anything, technically speaking, for it to transition from!

Listening to Every Killswitch Engage Album so I can Rank them #1: Killswitch Engage

I liked doing the Korn discog dive so I wanna do it with a few more bands, first starting off with Killswitch Engage. Killswitch is one of the biggest and most pioneering bands when it comes to metalcore, a subgenre I like to a great degree, however I never checked out these old school titans before. Killswitch Engage's first album and the first of two self-titled albums, yeah it's fine. The first two tracks are great (even if they were done better on AOJB but credit where it's due), I also quite like Irreversal. Everything else? Eh. The instruments go crazy and the vocals are just average.

Favourite Songs: Temple from the Within, Soilborn, One Last Sunset.
Least Favourite Songs: Irreversal, Rusted Embrace, Prelude.

Surprisingly good production values considering guitarist Adam D's relative inexperience and age. The songwriting is still pretty primal, the band doesn't have well defined verses and choruses but there are some very melodic passages, sing along moments and inspiring lyrics. All templates of whats to come, and whats to be improved obviously. Vide Infra and Irreversal are bona fide ... read more
