While not as grand, the follow-up to Under The Iron Sea is still a very solid alternative rock and pop album. Definitely a bit more energetic and dance-oriented compared to past releases but the writing and energy on this album is very strong.

Going through Keane's discography, I've come to the conclusion that they have an almost identical career trajectory to fellow post-Britpop band Doves (to simplify it); a great debut album, an even better sophomore album, a third album that is still okay but a HUGE step down from the first two, a slightly better follow-up and after a long hiatus, a fifth album that is a return to form but not quite up there with the first two albums.

The difficult third album, 1/2 of it remains of a good standard (title track, Lovers, Black Burning Heart, Love is the End) but some songs aren't as strong as on the two previous albums. On the whole however if I play this I probably would skip much of it, so its still pretty good.

Keane coming in with another really solid piano rock album. I didn't enjoy this quite as much as there first two albums, but it still had plenty of highs. If I had any complaints, it would be that it sounded like they pitched Tom's vocals on a couple tracks to the point where he sounds a bit chipmunk-ish to me. Otherwise, another fun album from the UK trio.
