Post is refreshing to hear, an emerging talent who can craft melodic hooks and infectious songs that stick.
The album showcases Post's natural vibrato and a roster of revered producers. Unfortunately, the many high points of Stoney are juxtaposed with undeniable lows.
For all of Stoney’s faults, its most damning one poisons the record at the source: This thing is completely soulless.
It's competent and listenable, but many others have tread this same path already. Post Malone has a way to go before standing out with his own unique voice, but there are signs on Stoney that it could happen.
Outside of the major hits on here, this album just sounds ai generated. The production is super inconsistent; you will go from a solid beat to a really generic one, and that's how it is for the whole album. Also, Malone's singing on here is not it; he definitely has improved over time. When you listen to his new stuff, he is a pretty solid vocalist, but this post was clearly not with some God awful vocals. Overall, outside of a few memorable moments and highlight tracks, Post ... read more

It's time for another album that the internets pettiest music nerd has given a NOT GOOD and an album that I've honestly been anticipating to talk about, that album being Post Malones 2016 debut album Stoney. Now I have a bit of a soft spot for Post Malone, like many I discovered him through his breakout hit White Iverson and since then I've been following his music career, ... read more
Coming back to Posts material, since he was prob one of the first artists that I checked out in relatively full. And even back then, I always thought “Stoney” was one of his worst the moment I heard it back in like 2018 or something. This album just doesn’t have much going for itself, I tries to be this cool sounding druggy, Travis Scott type sound and style, but then it makes stuff like “Broken Whiskey Glass” which are easily some of the worst pop rap songs I had ... read more
Stoney feels like an artist figuring it out in real time. There’s a clear sound here, that mix of melodic rap, pop, and hazy, emotional hooks, but it doesn’t always come together in a way that fully sticks.
The production is smooth and easy to sit with. A lot of it leans into that airy, atmospheric style that became his signature, and when it works, it really works. The melodies are simple but effective, and the overall vibe is consistent enough to carry you through the ... read more
