Smilers is a masterpiece from a songwriter who's quietly chronicling the blanched last days of a sunshine empire.
This one is kinda slept on. It might seem like a lighter, synthier little bro of The Forgotten Arm, but I think there are some absolute gems in here. Phoenix and Thirty One Today are always on my mind.
It's some of the the most amazing music I know.
Smilers won't give you Long Shot live at St. Ann's Warehouse. It won't. It won't give you carefree and juvenile Ghost World.
