When the songwriting is on, Ruby Blue seems perfect, the ultimate combination of human warmth and technological know-how.

Brief Review: Middle feels a bit redundant, but as a whole it’s a pretty cool and fun debut art pop album. Some cool moments on here, even if they feel a bit samey as an album. Probably worth a listen at some point.

Ruby Blue for the debut is a very experimental album that uses a lot of unique structures and sounds that sound nothing like her 2023 album. I love how she finds herself on these weird experimental instrumentals and how well she sings on them.
Her vocal ranges and lyrics give so much personality; her production is just the cherry on top.

Album swap with my good friend @sexoo!

This album started off on a bad note for me. I wasn't a fan of the production or the vocals on 'Leaving the City'. This is an album I have known about and have had in my library for a bit now. As a solo debut from the former Moloko front-cis-woman, it leans heavily into quirky, left-field production, sometimes at the expense of momentum and the listener's enjoyment. The experimental edge is interesting I'd say, but the album can feel a bit redundant and unfocused across its runtime. Still, there are glimpses of the bold, theatrical pop instincts Murphy would later fully realize just not consistently locked in yet.

A pretty great debut album from Róisín, and an especially pleasant surprise after being severely disappointed by her latest album. The entire album sounds pretty odd and original, and it works for the most part. With that being said, some of the songs here do feel as though they are missing something (like they weren't completely finished). This is especially the case for "Sinking Feeling" and "Off On It". Fav tracks : Leaving The City, Night Of The ... read more
