I think after such an amazing discography that The Kinks would run out of steam with the last two albums. What sucks particularly about this one is, that if it you cut off a minute and a half from each song it could have been a good album. Overall it’s just waisted potential.
The Kinks' final album sounds tired and uninteresting. They have had a long and successful career, so it only makes sense that they ran out of juice at this point.
A little less sporadic than the last effort, there is a consistency here, but unfortunately, the highs are few and far between. This band is still good when they are bad because they have a strong identity, and sure, some of the material from the last two albums can feel like rehashes, but they're still creative with the usual topics they go about.
