After a six-year hiatus, Prodigy and producer the Alchemist team up for Albert Einstein, a vivid rap record that feels as if the musty sensations of long-shelved, resin-stained gatefold LPs and cracked-spine pulp crime paperbacks were fused and synthesized into music.

AllHipHop
For the most part sick signature Alchemist beats, with the addition of some new sounds that are just right.

PopMatters
You might not be blown away by the album, but Prodigy and Alchemist have put together a highly enjoyable album.

HipHopDX
The album is repetitive in nature (a sure complaint for anyone highly critical of his solo work), Prodigy continues his largely consistent reign as a still thriving pioneer of New York’s once thugged-out era.

AllMusic
Complain that they're stuck in a rut or praise that they're still able to do it convincingly, because this album gives up evidence to support either argument.

Exclaim!

Technically flawless, but focused to a fault, Albert Einstein is further proof that Alchemist could benefit from a mistake.

XXL

The album never reaches jaw-dropping levels because the envelope’s never pushed, but that’s not the point. Albert Einstein is about two artists doing what they do best, and for one of them, it’s a return to form.

Earmilk

Albert Einstein is technically flawless, but focused to a fault.

Alchemist & Prodigy, Episode Two.

To understand what's going on between these two, we need to go back to 2007, the time of their first collaboration: Return Of The Mac. Magnificently orchestrated by the producer, this album created a captivating atmosphere, managing to extract from New York the essence of hip hop that we more or less believed had died out, giving Prodigy an aura he hadn’t experienced since the 90s.

Five years later, they're back together; Alchemist has ... read more

Prodigy and Alchemist had collabed various times in the past, so the potential for this album to be great was already there. Alchemist had been going strong in the early 2010's, making a comeback after having a rather weak late 2000's run; but he picked things up and make some do his best beats since the late 90's/early 2000's. As for Prodigy, his catalog was also fairly weak for a while, although longer than Alchemist. Even in Mobb Deep, the quality of their music after those first 2 projects ... read more

Prodigy goes for the calm approach on this tape, less-is-more-ing his way through 50 minutes of Alchemist production with some help from Domo Genesis, Raekwon, Action Bronson, etc. While Prodigy's voice is a nice addition to the music, his lyrics aren't all too special here. Prodigy is a GOAT now and forever, but 'pussy sweet like bear meat' is suspect to say the least.

Don't get this twisted - this is another day at the office for Prodigy. The stand out here is Alch's production. Alchemist ... read more
