Distorted Sound

As if there was any doubt at this point, DVNE are truly masters of their craft, one of a rare and special breed whose music treads the near impossibly fine line between the progressive and the primal, the intricate and the intuitive, so to speak.

The excellent songwriting and ditto performances ensure that Voidkind remains a must-hear for prog-sludge fans.

This is such a solid progressive sludge metal album, it sounds like if Mastadon experimented more with their late 2000's sound instead of stripping back to a more straight forward one. It's got those thunderous riffs and the drumming is intense!

Cut to 2025. After diving into their 2021 record Etemen Aenka, the band finally clicked, and I revisited Voidking on multiple occasions.

There's a lot to love here. The sludgy prog mix is so disgusting, groovy and awesome. The drumming and riffs especially are killer.

The opening track Summa Blasphemia sets the tone so well for the record. Reaching for Telos and Abode of the Perfect ... read more
