This is unfairly good. The instrumentation on this album makes you transcend reality, and both Andy Paak and Bruno Mars bring out stellar performances. Tbh, I was never really a fan of them before this project, and I still amn’t really with Bruno. But this LP is an exception. Everything is perfect, especially “After Last Night,” that shit hits different.
Zel really made his whole discography summarized in one album: Consistently amazing and never missing. However, there is one song that breaks this pattern. This song is called “If Tommorow’s Not Here,” and it’s probably the greatest Zel song ever. This LP really does perfectly give us Zel as a person, lots of hype tracks and some songs that make you reflect on life.
DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT A ROCK FAN!
I would be lying if I said Kendrick didn’t bring me here. We all would be. I’m glad he did, because Ostavi Trag is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard. But it’s nestled in between a mid track and a boring song with a 2 minute intro purely being drums. I’ll say it, this album bored me to death. How are you going to have 4 songs be mid or bad in a 7 song album??? Even Potop I would classify as “decent.” This album just ... read more
Fucking hell, Cole. I would definitely get flamed for this if I had any followers, but oh well. Yes, this does mean I'm rating this album higher than Madvillainy. And, to explain why, fuck it: lets go track for track.
Best Song: 4YEO
Worst Song: I cant fucking decide. ig She's Mine pt. 1 or Foldin Clothes but I still love both of them dearly.
For Whom the Bell Tolls: This is probably my favourite song on the album. Cole did not hold back with that incredible flow and hard-hitting ... read more
Just one miss in Love Can Be, this futuristic album is definitely one of Vince’s best. The only things that bring this down are some of the weird production choices (not in the beats, but more vocal samples) and the fact that Vince isn’t yet at the top of his game writing-wise, but same cannot be said for his rapping.
Really a great Savage record. It always hurts me to not put high scores on 21 Savage albums because I actually love his music, but he's not nearly revolutionary or lyrical enough to really have albums that are up there.
Best Song: a lot/4L
Worst Song: at&t
Production was great, but Travis’ performances were mid and there’s more awful lyrics than I can count on my hands. Also referring to getting head as “Sloppy Toppy” yeets all of the chances this thing had to get a 70
Best Song: Drugs You Should Try It/Skyfall
Worst Sobg: Sloppy Toppy
Super overlooked project, incredible effort by Push as always. Like usually the opening track is great, and so are most of them. Crutches, Crosses, Caskets is really the only miss here, and the production is usually very interesting. Also, Sunshine might be one of my favorite Push tracks ever.
Best Song: Sunshine
Worst Song: Crutches, Crosses, Caskets
I wrote a bunch of bullshit but my power went out so I’ll write it again whenever I could be bothered
Best Song: either on or off the drugs
Worst Song: vulgar display of power
94 —> 90 because this ain’t better than Swimming
I gave this album a couple days to set in just to make sure I wasn’t jumping to conclusions. I now know I wasn’t. Despite not being the most introspective record, not even Zel’s most, this mixtape just sounds incredible. Also, the transition from Lunatic Interlude to Sked and then to Choose Wisely Intermission made me hard.
Best Song: idk probably Black Flag Freestyle or Hoodlumz
Worst Song: Hit the Floor
This should be titled “Please Excuse me for Making Such a Good Album.” I added all the songs except Moonwalking and Prayers to Trap God (and the skit, duh).
Best Song: The Box/War Baby
Worst Song: Moonwalking
Mac went OFF. Throughout this entire album, he didn’t miss. I added every song into my library. That’s right, a damn passed hip hop artist made a better neo-soul album than many neo-soul artists. I think this might be the greatest posthumous album oat (if Life After Death doesn’t count). Also the 2 deluxe tracks are gas 😮💨
Best Song: Circles
Worst Song: Hands
MBAWE, MBAWE, SHAWTY BE CALI-LI-LI-LI-LU-LURRRRRR, SHOME LA BEH 🗣️ 🗣️ 🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥
I was actually pleasantly surprised by… a couple tracks on this album. The production is great and the flow is… decent. However the lyrics on almost all the tracks are straight 💩.
Best Track: Fuel
Worst Track: Almost all of them
The production is great. The opening 5 tracks are also pretty great, along with "How To Rap." Other than that, just OK additions to the tracklist. Definitely not album of the year, it's not even in contention for top 5. The lyrics were decent, but for Benny's standards, he really should've delivered with a better project.
What a great project by Kanye. He really popped off with this project. With just 24 minutes, this is short, and there isn’t a minute wasted. Despite being so short, it still feels like there’s layers. At the start, an aggressive (yet still meaningful) LP, while appt the end a chill, soothing, calming project.
Best Song: Ghost Town/Violent Crimes (it’s a tossup)
Worst Song: I Thought About Killing You
