One of the best albums we got from that incredible rap period in 2018. Really the only song Inwouldnt consider great is “Conversation Pt. 1,” but other than that Mac didn’t miss. On level with “DAYTONA” and “TA1300.” This is definitely Mac’s best work.
Best Song: Jet Fuel
Worst Song: Conversations Pt. 1
Part of Kanye’s Wyoming sessions in 2018, and this is the perfect representation of that. 7 flawless songs back to back making this an incredible album and Pusha’s lyricism over Kanye’s production took this LP to the next level.
Best Song: If You Know You Know/Santeria
Worst Song: Infrared
TFS is more than a worthy follow-up to DiCaprio 2 and his best album to date. Every single song here is incredible and JID’s unparalleled flow and his phenomenal modern lyricism are what makes this such a great album. However, it just doesn't reach the highs of other albums released the same year like MMESYF and IAD.
Best Song: Stars
Worst Song: Money
With his 4th studio album, Push has once again shown how he has endless coke metaphors in his mind and never runs out of content, still being one of the greatest lyricist in the modern era. This is, in my opinion, his best and most replay able album to date, opting for it rather than “Daytona.” I love this LP.
Best Song: I Pray For You
Worst Song: Open Air
What an enjoyable listen. Having songs like I Wonder and Flashing Lights, it is obvious that this is an incredible LP. Despite having a skip in Barry Bonds, I feel Drunk and Hot Girls is overhated and not that bad a song. Overall, Kanye reached his peak when creating Graduation.
Best Song: I Wonder
Worst Song: Barry Bonds
This has to be one of my favorite albums right now. JPEGMAFIA’s crazy addictive production and experimental sound makes this a listen to remember. The short, action-filled songs with Peggy’s raw lyricism is what makes this LP so great.
Best song: TIRED, NERVOUS AND BROKE!
Worst song: π―!
Incredibly underrated project. Joey Bada$$ re-introduced boom-bap to the culture of hip-hop with 1999. That 90’s-like production combined with Joey’s incredible writing as a 17-year-old make this the greatest mixtape of all time and one of my favorite projects ever made. Not a single miss in sight and damn songs like survival tactics, hardnock, world domination, and pennyroyal really get you going.
Best song: Third Eye $hit (fight me)
Worst Song: FromdaTomb$
The true definition of an experimental hip-hop record. With DOOM’s immaculate writing and calm flow (don’t talk about my moms yo) and the greatest rap producer’s, Madlib’s, incredible flows this LP really sells you on the idea that these two are “supervillains.”
Best song: Raid
Worst Song: Shadows of Tomorrow
What an incredible album. Ms. Lauryn Hill’s first and only solo studio album was on a league of its own, nailing a fusion between Soul, R&B, and Hip-Hop while keeping the heart of her originating genre. There are close to zero flaws in this entire LP. From the singing to the rapping, truly one of the best records ever made.
Best Song: Ex-Factor
Worst Song Every Ghetto, Every City
A good LP from Travis Scott, but nothing special. Still nowhere near his highs reaches on “Rodeo,” despite being debatably his 2nd best album. However, I will say “MY EYES” is probably his best song ever, with his hypnotizing harmonies in the first part and incredible lyrical showcase in his unforgettable flow in the latter half.
Best Song: MY EYES
Worst Song: K-POP
Nas’ Illmatic" is the base for every boom-bap album, having that unparalleled 90’s hip-hop sound combined with immaculate penmanship from the greatest writer in rap history. All the aspects of the album, from the features to the beats to the writing to the flows make this an unforgettable LP and one of the greatest works in music history.
Best Song: The World Is Yours
Worst Song: Halftime (or the Genesis if it counts)
I wholeheartedly believe this is the greatest hop-hop album of all time. Although the average writing of the album may not be as incredible as TPAB’s, It has higher highs and a better concept. “Sing About Me, I’m Dying of Thirst” was the first song to ever make me cry. Also, GKMC is incredibly replay able with song like ”Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe,” “Backseat Freestyle,” “Money Trees,” and, on the deluxe version, “The ... read more
