Fun production, but the vocals get kinda annoying. i love the instrumentals and the production, but the vocals might be the only thing holding me back from vibing with this album as a whole.

I get what the band is trying to do: build a soundscape, and while it is successful in doing so, I dont know if there is enough direction to pull it all together. The good news is that the tracks that shine (cosmic, (O)rdinary, Game Over and Mattel), outshine some of the directionless and rather forgetful tracks on the album.

This album is a mixed bag, but ultimately has more good than bad. While I dont like some of those mid tempo long songs (Sleepwalk My Life Away), there are some great moments here. Chasing Light, Too Far Gone, Room of Mirrors and Inamorata are good to great tracks. We get a couple flashes of Kirk’s kill em all style shred in Chasing Light, the vocals from Hetfield are amazing throughout, and even Lars gets a couple cool moments.

What a fun listen. Although there are parts and tracks im not super fond of, I really dig the experimental sounds thrown into the mix of what sounds like art pop instrumentation. Im also seeing a lot of people recommending their 2018 album. Will have to now listen to that!
