Alexaminations

Babytron’s charisma and personality is undeniable. His punchlines are great and he knows how to pick beats that match his energy and style. Obviously 26 tracks of Babytron is way too much but in the right doses and without taking it too seriously, his music can be pretty damn fun.

Even with a spotty mix, this is heat. I can definitely see my rating going up once the mix is fixed.

So Slowthai has decided to embrace his punk side. He’s always shown a punk influence but this is the hardest he’s ever leaned into it. Unfortunately, he was obviously in a dark place when he recorded this but that punk style gave him the perfect base to channel the anguish and distress he was dealing with and make the most emotionally potent and visceral music of his career. His first two albums were good but this thing is far and away his best.

Well this makes it back-to-back impressive releases for Logic. He just seems to be having fun and I commend it. He’s not trying too hard to make something outside of what he does best. The beats are cool and the raps and flows are solid. It does come with some skits that feel forced and it’s painfully obvious that lines are being read but outside of the skits, it’s a fun album and follow-up to Vinyl Days. Hopefully Logic can keep this streak going.
