The first beatles ALBUM, and my personal second favourite. This is the first album where they really focused on making a complete artistic vision, and not just a collection of songs, and it was a real turning point in their career. I think this is the definitive end of the "early Beatles", and where they truly started cementing themselves as the greatest band of all time. Where there were moments of greatness prior to this album, this and all the albums after is really where they ... read more
This album (among many of their other early albums) really feels like the result of their 2 album a year deal. There are some super strong highlights on here, some of the greatest songs ever written, but then the rest is just kinda filler, and filler on a 33 minute album is pretty unusual. If they weren't under so much pressure to pump out music so fast I'm sure the quality of the rest of the songs would be much higher
Beatles for Sale is once again padded out with covers, and being their 4th album in 2 years, I don't blame them. Honestly every song (except Eight Days a Week) feels like filler, and it shows cause this is the only Beatles album with no classic songs. This album is very clearly a contractual obligation, and it's easily their worst so far.
The first Beatles album with no covers, and probably their best so far (although not my personal favourite). You can really hear the songwriting start to improve on this one, but its still got that early Beatles charm
