Definite return to form after the forgettable 'hours...', for the most part. It's quite a slow album, it likes to take it's time letting songs build nicely. There a few forgettable songs here that bring it down though. They kind of sound like offcuts from 'hours...' or Black Tie. However, there's a fair amount of great stuff to enjoy too, Slip Away is just fantastic, and the album flows nicely... If only he'd cut Gemini Spaceship and A Better ... read more
I love how this album just goes for it! There's not an ounce of subtlety here but Gaga has never been about that. It's brash, catchy, out there pop music and I love it. I'm also pretty sure it has the power to turn any man gay.
Highlights for me are Aura, Venus, G.U.Y., Fashion! and Applause.
What is the production on this album?! It sounds so muddy! Terrible! If only it stopped there, the songs are generally uninspired and the lyrics are pretty bad. However, Gillan is giving it his all and there is some good guitar work from Iommi. It just sounds like a band which has no idea what it's identity is anymore.
No highlights here!
Subtle it isn't, but is it incredibly fun in your face pop music? Yes! I love this album, I can see why people may not, it's extremely over the top and it certainly tries and fails at certain things... Why is there a song about being in love with hair?! But those swings are what make it great! it has a more definitive voice than her debut and you get more of an idea of what artist Gag wants to be. It's great!

This should probably be considered P!nk's first album, it has a lot more of her personality than her debut does and it's just a more likeable album. Sure it's a bit messy and you can tell she's still trying to find her voice, but it's a super enjoyable album and it's great hearing her take control of her sound.
Highlights for me are Don't Let Me Get Me, Just Like a Pill, Get The Party Started, Family Portrait and Lonely Girl
I really like this album! Sure it's just Heaven and Hell the sequel, but it's still a good time! I think you can already hear the Dio partnership wearing thin, which is surprising after just two albums, but overall there's a lot to like. There are flashes of excellence, but most of it is just real good heavy rock... I think the metal has been well and truly stripped out at this point.
Highlights for me are The Sign of the Southern Cross and Over and Over
Releasing a year after The Fame, The Fame Monster shows a huge leap in terms of quality and sense of vision. Every song not only work on their own but it works as a cohesive EP. At only 8 songs that's obviously an easier thing to do but it's still impressive when you compare it to her debut. I also love that the 80's is just all over this.
Highlights for me are basically the whole thing, but Teeth is the weakest.
It feels weird to say because Gaga has such a strong image, but it seems like she was struggling to find where she fit on her debut. Obviously there's a lot of strong pop songs here, but there are also some pretty weak tracks. It's interesting to go back and listen to this now, I haven't heard it for a long time, and I forgot how inconsistent it is. However, it's a really fun album, a bit messy, but it has some truly great modern pop songs!

It seems Sheryl Crown may have been running out of ideas so she went to soul(ish)? I dunno it's a weird one this, the style doesn't 100% suit her, but it's a nice enough listen. The songs aren't really that strong, but they aren't terrible either, not a huge fan of Eye to Eye though. All in all, fine for a Sunday morning, but not really anything special.
Highlights for me are Our Love is Fading and Sideways
Maybe it's nostalgia, this album came out when I was an angsty 14 year old trying to find my place in the world, but I fucking love this album and I don't care. No notes.
If this is to be Britney's last album then I think I'm happy with that. There's a lot to love here, there's a lot of variety and Britney sounds really present! Sure, sometimes she tries some stuff that really stretches beyond her vocal ability, but it's preferable over the soulless stuff on her last album. Really enjoyable album which leaves me feeling sad that we may not get anymore.
Highlights for me are Do You Wanna Come Over?, Slumber Party, Change Your Mind (No ... read more
I'm not going to say wil.i.am ruined this album but as soon as his song starts the album goes way down hill... The first three songs weren't too bad! Unfortunately the rest is just soulless, production heavy, lazy songwriting and bad features. I'm OK with dance bangers but these songs just don't fit, and they just end up with Britney repeating the same words over heavy beats over and over again. I didn't hate listening to it, and I think there's half a good album ... read more
I love the vibe of this album. It's more Downard Spiral than With Teeth, dense electronic instrumentation and bleak lyrics about the state of the world. That's all my bag. It's a very consistent album, the weakest songs are the instrumentals though and I feel like they probably could have been cut and this would be an easy 90+. Still, all round excellent.
Highlights for me are Survivalism, Capital G, The Warning, Meet Your Master, The Great Destroyer and In This Twilight.
I think it's safe to say at this point in her career Britney has long become victim to the producer, but this is the most obvious yet, some songs don't even sound like Britney! However, there's some excellent songs here, the first four are extremely strong and it ends pretty well too it very much loses it's way in the middle though... will.i.am should just be kept away from music, please, for our ears! In any case, as far as you can tell, Britney seems game and there's ... read more
I struggle with this one, I think it suffers with songs that don't go anywhere interesting and the features are really weak in my opinion... It all equals to Mariah's weakest album to this point. It's not bad, but it's like it's filled up with the filler from previous albums in terms of quality.
Highlights for me are Heartbreaker, Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme), Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now) and Petals.
Bon Jovi, but serious! Songs about being cowboys? Not a single one! I like the direction they went with this one, there seemed to be more of a focus on musicianship. Unfortunately there is still the issue of some terrible lyrics and the album stretches on a bit too long, the second half is definitely not as good as the first. They really should have left Diamond Ring off at least! However, overall not a bad album to listen to and it's nice to hear them try and mature their sound a ... read more
Black Sabbath with a huge amount of Rainbow and a dash of Led Zeppelin? It works! It ain't breaking any boundaries but this is a fucking great time! The last few albums have been real lifeless but this has so much energy... and I love Ozzy's voice but Ronnie James Dio is obviously a better singer (I mean technically, Ozzy suits Sabbath's sound better). No, this isn't the old Black Sabbath, but it's just a real good metal / heavy rock album! Heaven and Hell is also a ... read more
Phew, they really should have said die.
I'm kidding! Honestly, considering how bad the relationships in the band had gotten it's a surprise this album is even slightly OK. There's nothing great here, but it's not offensively bad either it's all just OK. Kudos to Bill Ward doing his best Ozzy impression on Swinging the Chain because Ozzy refused to sing, it's not great, but at least he gave it a good go!
There are no highlights here.
It's Green Day but more acoustics, more optimistic, more mature? What?! It's a nice change of sound for the band, not all the songs are out and out bangers but it's all good to great... It doesn't hit the highs of their previous 3 albums but it's a well crafted, slightly laid back album.
Highlights for me are Warning, Waiting, Minority and Macy's Day Parade
Effectively Blackout 2, but like most sequels it's not quite as good. Indeed there are some highs, but there are more mid tracks here that stop it from being great, especially towards the end. Also, why is Radar included? Still, it's a surprise that it's as good as it is.
Highlights for me are Womanizer, Circus and If U Seek Amy
