Another holocaust, Maria style, another day are must listen for any Memphis head. Production carries but lyrics are violently creative.
Come down music, sad cause he eventually became a junkie. The self awareness of the spiral and the inability to stop always hits me with people like Mac Miller, and Alex Jones.
I feel a little harsh scoring a project this consistent, this low. However, each song has blemishes. KRIIT reminds me of one of those people who try to be cool instead of effortless. Now that doesn’t matter on his more introspective cuts, but a large portion of the project is baggadocious. His singing is severely flat, so often the choruses are wince worthy. His subject matter is also pretty uninteresting personally.even the more reflective tracks reflect on topics covered by other ... read more
Dre’s voice can feel a bit forced at times which is a shame because the everything else is immaculate.
Too long, but good for a mixtape. Gets his name out, shows potential. Does lack personality though, saying a lot but nothing of interest.
J Cole seemingly forgets that his music has to be engaging. There are some well written moments, and a smooth flow throughout, but his voice is so unengaging and the beats taste like rye bread. It feels like most of his points have already been explored in earlier projects or by other artists, I don’t understand the hype.
Joey has great highlights again, and is more consistent than his debut - however, there are too many tracks here I simply don’t care for and add dead space. Joey seems to struggle to find interesting subject matter, that comes from being an interesting persona, or being reflectively intelligent, rather than witty.
Joey feels over exaggerated with his delivery, he has nothing of interest subject matter wise except longlivesteelo, which is the only song worth listening too and perhaps sit n prey.
Maybe I was hating a little bit too much on earlier reviews, mostly in part to the overreaction to this album by people online - which I felt created an echo chamber that heavily inflated the score. I still feel that way to an extent, but I think I have a more balanced opinion. Joey is at times immature, he does focus on uninteresting subject matter at times, and he doesn’t readjust his style to synergize with beats. In saying all of that, he has an excellent flow, incredibly creative ... read more
Getting shitfaced at a random Korean karaoke place and putting on Adele is never not a good time. Also singing someone like you with the boys and homeless bros, sun coming up, judgemental looks bombarding in from cyclists (as you laugh in their face); makes up a large part of my core memories. So anyways, Adele, you’re a sick cunt.
I don’t rate Isaiah at all as a rapper. His voice is often annoying, he has nothing interesting to say, and he doesnt read beats well. Attacking smooth beats that or just doing too much when a softer touch is required - album insanely overrated because of TDE.
Drug deallahhh - used to think his voice was a bit ‘how ya going’ but he floats on this beat like bones in a vat of acid
This album always takes me to a certain place, just those beautifully lukewarm arvo’s when the sun kaleidoscopes the horizon with hues of pink, blue, orange, purple; and you’re just there chilling with your mates on some sandy beach, a frosty great northern in your right hand. Perfect theme songs for Australia, much love for this aussie pub legend.
