There are a few gems on here and conceptually it's very interesting, but there's only so far you can go relying so heavily on cover songs
I'm not sure her voice suits the genres she attempts to explore here, but the vision and sound is certainly there
really bold and interesting sound, just lacking in the execution on occasion
Some very forgettable but functional folk-country. Think Waxahatchee but less compelling
There are some real highlights on this record, but when it's doing it's thing on the remainder of the album it's just very mediocre
I don't know why I didn't love this, it's the sort of thing I'm a sucker for and I can see the quality is there, it just didn't grab me the way other similar records have. Still, undeniably a very solid album from Allie
The content does run a little dry in the second half, relying too heavily on instrumental beats and leaving us short on the bangers of the earlier portion of the record, but the quality of the album never falters to the very end
There's some classic Alex Cameron in here somewhere but nearly everything just feels a bit off
The vocal tracks are interesting but the instrumental tracks are very drab and lacking in any kind of artistry or imagination
Honestly Kanye disgusts me as much as anyone else these days, but I've always preached separately the music from the artist and admittedly, troublesome lyrics and a few duds aside, this is better than anything we've heard from Kanye in a long while
Feels like some of this should have been saved for a longer project as it's just not very coherent as an EP, even if the quality is still there
Recover is a classic Chvrches single but everything else on this EP is truly awful
Grows tiresome quick, but ultimately doesn't overstay it's welcome and offers some very exciting and genre-pushing noise pop
