To celebrate my 20th birthday, I thought I might as well do a review on one of, if not the most important albums to me in my entire life.
I started listening to TSP because of my dad giving me the ‘Rotten apples’ CD which is just their greatest hits and I instantly fell in love with everything about the pumpkins.
So then after listening to the greatest hits for a week or so, dad decided to tell me about the likes of Gish and of course Mellon Collie, but importantly he told me ... read more
Insanely good.
Production is outstandingly eccentric yet so beautiful. Great lyricism across the board, giving an insight to Ezra’s views on the world and everything that surrounds him. This still has that nostalgic feeling of their previous records but still feels so refreshing with its added elements and unique track layouts.
All round just a very excitingly fun and impressive feat of an album, which deserves all the attention it’s receiving and even more, from non fans and ... read more
Don’t get me wrong it’s nice to hear a little project coming out from Dom, but yeah there’s nothing really special at all about this. No real meaning or substance that’s noteworthy, it’s just Dom spitting over some whatever instrumentals and that’s pretty much it.
This is the most diabolical, offensively boring and trashy “projects” I’ve ever heard.
It feels disrespectful to even call this a project because a project is something that has a plan to it, that has each member pull their weight and put their effort into it, and most noteably a project should have a purpose and a reason for being brought out for people to hear and connect with. This does not feel like that in the absolute SLIGHTEST.
Each instrumental is by the numbers copy ... read more
This review is coming out way later than I expected but I couldn’t stop myself from listenting to the new Adrian Lenker, seeing that it’s the album of the year and all that😅
No but honestly I was excited and intrigued to see what Matt could do as a solo artist as me and my best friend are (or I guess WERE..) huge fans of brockhampton, plus Matt was one of my favourites of the group.
Matt explored plenty of different sounds whilst still keeping a similar vibe throughout the ... read more
10/10. Easily. (EDIT: it's not a 10/10 but it's incredibly close to being one, I was just listening the shit out of this. Still easily one of the albums of the year)
I can’t imagine this being topped this year, it HAS to be album of the year. Just simply beautiful, incredibly heartbreaking, as transparent as it gets, Adrianne pours her heart and soul into “Bright Future”.
The melodies stick in your mind like super glue, the acoustic guitar/piano passages are ... read more
The production, the deliveries, the wordplay, the sampling, the flow from track to track, is just simply incredible.
Everyone knows how incredible this album is, but I have to celebrate its 20th anniversary, which is the least I can do.
It’s nearly perfect, except for at a certain stage in the middle of the record where I feel like the tracks fall off just a tiny bit, but tiny undermines it. The tracks are still great, but just in comparison to the rest it’s a slight drop off, but ... read more
Feel like Tierra has the potential to be a truly interesting and unique artist but this album just came across so irritating a lot of the time and felt like it was different for the sake of it without focusing and just making good songs.
It’s a point everyone seems to be bringing up about this record but how was there a 6 year gap between ‘Whack World’ to THIS of all things… it’s almost insulting.
There’s certain songs that had some decent qualities but ... read more
I really enjoy Kenny’s voice and he has great potential for sure, but there’s still a lot to be improved.
Some very enjoyable moments on the album, some a bit meh. I do believe Kenny has a great project in him though but only time will tell.
I mean yeah this does legit go crazy?.. like Kim Gordon has to be officially the coolest 70 (going on 71) year old to ever exist.
I tried going into this as unbiased possible seeing I love hip hop and Sonic Youth and I didn’t wanna say I love the record for the sake of what it is, but it really is a great project.
Amazing production and Kim Gordon somehow doesn’t sound out of place but I shouldn’t be so surprised seeing she’s a huge hip hop lover so she clearly knows ... read more
On its 30th anniversary it’s only right I cover one of the most essential albums ever made in music.
There’s nothing I can say that hasn’t been said already about this record, because it’s so universally loved and there’s no real point in breaking down the record and each tracks backstory because they’ve been explained so many times before, so I’m just gonna talk about it briefly in a music manner, because the concept itself is incredibly haunting yet ... read more
On the 30th anniversary of this record, it only feels right to cover this album (and there may or may not be another review of a certain record that released this day 30 years ago)
A truly quintessential rock album, especially in the grunge scene that has incredible performances from each memeber respectively but of course most of the attention is going to be on the late Chris Cornell.
A record with top quality production and filled with remarkable riffs from Kim Thayill, amazing chemistry ... read more
At first I wasn’t really moved by the album at all, just felt very basic and very few songs stood out but after a few listens it’s definitely grown on me.
This is Ariana’s first record of hers where she produces on, and does most of the production at that too, and the record does sound very well polished and nicely produced all round.
All in all is it the most mindblowing pop record you’ll hear this year? Doubtful, and is it Ariana’s best record? No, but ... read more
Pretty fun, brutal metalcore project that proves to be a great little taster for who fallingwithscissors are. Some tracks are very good, whilst some are a little less focused and have a bit too much going on to get a full grasp of.
But all in all, very fun metalcore project that’s just under 20 minutes.
Excited to see what these can do with a full length project.
‘Blue Lips’ gave me blue balls because I was expecting so much just to be let down massively.
No but seriously what an absolute snoozefest to be completely honest. I really had high hopes for this record strangely enough even though none of ScHoolboy Q’s past projects never fully hit, and I guess I was expecting something different because I liked the atmosphere the album was building towards with its visuals but it just fell completely flat.
‘Blueslides’ and ... read more
All 10 points go to JID for getting his bag and dipping, do not blame at all whatsoever for doing this verse because it’s free money at the end of the day. Also hilarious that JID barely tried with this verse because he’s clearly using old bars and old flows but why should he care, plus he still sounds as brilliant as ever.
Anyways that’s enough meat riding for JID, now on to the album.
It’s terrible, but I’m grateful for albums like this because it evens out the ... read more
A nice change of genre and feeling to a MGMT record, which is a more dream poppy, indie rock and psychedelic record and it comes across great.
For the most apart very consistent, although there’s a little drop off near the end of the record but is saved by the closing track which is hugely important that the record ends on a great note.
Very satisfactory, was worth the wait and will only grow on myself and fans of MGMT for the foreseeable future.
If you asked AI to make a pop-punk record then I’m convinced this is what you’d get.
I’ve been in the mood to try listen to some more pop-punk and I’ve no real idea where this desire comes from but I decided to give this new Neck Deep record a spin and I had a weirdly good feeling about it because as I said, I was wanting to revisit and dive into this genre more and give more modern bands a go, and there so happened to be a record by one of the most successful groups to ... read more
