#3 Discography Dissection: Brockhampton
So the end of the trilogy, and I had become a fan of theirs before S3 had dropped so this was my first BH album as a fan of theirs, seeing I heard S1 and S2 back to back a few months after their release, but with S3 I was obsessed with them so I had something to get excited for.
And to be honest, I always found it hard to rank their albums and even the trilogy I found it hard to choose a best out of the 3 and whilst S1 and S2 all great, this is ... read more
Very unambitious "record", very half baked, no real meaning behind this existing, just nothing at all. The first two tracks are okay but the rest just really lack anything of excitement tbh.
Yeah I mean it's not too bad, few good songs here and there but nothing particularly stand out tbh.
I get the appeal of course but just doesn't feel like anything I'd find myself going back to at all

Saturation 2, which is a fan favourite and totally understandably why. The fact this shit only came out two months after S1 is insane to think, and incredibly impressive.
S2 has easily some of their best tracks ever, them being QUEER, JUNKY, FIGHT, SWEET and of course SUMMER. But what I found with this record that it wasn't as consistent as I might've remebered. It never reaches any low point in particular, like for example the worst tracks ... read more
What a great introduction to these!
I discovered Wunderhorse by seeing the singer Jacob Slater practically fist his mouth during the intro of "July" which I immediately thought that this mf is off the perc but also sounded so sick, and when I heard those slow chords playing I immediately thought of "My Hero"
But I must say I realllllly really enjoyed this. They kind of remind me of a darker version of Fontaines DC, but if Jamie Lenman sang for them instead. They've ... read more
I mean there's only so much I can really say about this.
It's a perfectly okay record, but it doesn't really break any boundaries or have too much versatility. Obviously not every song is the same but I just feel the record does kinda get too comfortable in it's one sound and just comes off as a safe pop record.
Sure the likes of Espresso, Please Please Please, Good Graces and Bed Chem are pretty good songs, but the rest aren't bad by any means, but just kind of ... read more

Brockhampton, who are one of my favourite artists ever, are one of the artists I've obviously wanted to do one of these discography dissections on them when I first decided I was gonna do to these lists. I had no idea when I would end up doing it on Brockhampton, but I was talking about them recently to my best friend and just talking about them to him made me realize how much I missed listenting to them and how it's been so long since I have ... read more
Foreign Spies = 78
Good track, just your typical The Smile track with its synths and building up tension throughout.
Zero Sum = 90
Fantasic track with a lot of groove and the use of brass instruments is something I love in rock music as a whole. The track gives off some Talking Heads vibe which is always a great thing. Also the riffs just stick in your mind which is something that I think The Smile are actually quite underrated for. Looking forward to yet another record from these :)
So after what felt like forever, "Romance" is finally here.
I wanted to take my time with this because of how much I built this album up in my head, I knew it was gonna take time to really get my full thoughts, and it's still growing on me with each listen but I truly love this record and the boundaries it breaks from the usual FDC record.
The melodies are stronger and more memorable than ever, with a lot more harmonies than usual it feels. I think this record is gonna really ... read more
FDC channeling their inner Lana Del Rey is so much better than what I expected. So beautiful
#2 Discography Dissection: Black Midi
Firstly before anything, at around 2:30 in "The Race Is About To Begin" where Geordie starts rapping is one of the most insane things I've ever heard in a song. So insane.
Anyways, the last record ever as we speak of Black Midi, "Hellfire" is at their peak with even more diverse writing and moving away a little bit from their Jazzy side that was on "Calvacade", but still some elements stay there. The vocal performances ... read more
This is so insanely hard😠I love the diversity in this, with the new sounds they're incorporating with their usual heavier sound. Feels fresh but at the same time feels like the same Chat Pile we all love. That last 20 second outro feels like being beat the shit out of by a brick
#2 Discography Dissection: Black Midi
The second record from black midi seen Kaidi Akinnibi and Seth Evans become members of the band and they were a very welcome addition to the band, going in a more jazzy direction, whilst still maintaining noises elements that so many fans fell in love with them for.
They released "John L" to the world and oh my god this is easily one of their best songs without question. Not a very unpopular opinion I know but it's just fact, the song is ... read more
#2 Discography Dissection: Black Midi
Well damn :(
I still remember my first time hearing Black Midi, which was their KEXP performance in 2019. I remember getting the notification for it and accidentally clicked on it, but decided to just watch it because I had nothing else to do and oh my god it was the best accident ever.
I listened that performance to death, so much that I knew every camera switch, I knew when Geordie starts playing one of the open strings during Ducter for absolutely ... read more

Thanks to everyone for some what caring about what I might have to say about certain records/songs. I’ve loved every minute that I’ve been on this website and I can’t wait to do so many more reviews.
Now there’s no real particular reason why I’m reviewing this record, I simply think it’s such an unbelievably underrated album by RH. I’m a AOTY user so of course I’m going to love RH, but I think this album deserves so much ... read more
This is by no means a meh record, but I just don’t think the genre of roots/southern/blues rock is really my thing (even though I love TWS and QOTSA but of course they’re different to this)
I recognize this as a solid record but I wouldn’t be going back to this much I’d imagine. At least they’ve another 741 others albums I can choose from to enjoy though
I like the different sound that they’re coming out with here
Would be very curious to see a full record playing with this type of genre
“I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU” if it was terribly written and the target audience were all 13 year old racists
Just realized I hadn’t actually reviewed this yet, but to keep it short and simple;
This might end up being my favourite Fontaines track for a long a long a long a long a long-long time
