Too short to really have a forgettable track, especially with Young Thug's variation from other trap artists at the time, especially in the vocal department. It has some very memorable tracks like With Them and Digits which are the easy standouts from the album, but I also really liked Tattoos. The worst song was pretty handily Slime Shit for me.
Not my favorite outkast album. still great, ut to me, it has some problems that keep it out of the legendary position everyone else has it as. First of all, as every one else says, the second half dips in quality, especially on Mamacita and Liberation, which is by far the most overrated song here to me. I just don't really think it belongs on this outkast album. Also, the first half has a lot of skits/interludes after songs are over, which kind of breaks the pace of the album and its ... read more
is it admittedly overly rash and experimental at points? yes. is it an absolute joy to listen to for me? absolutely. and i couldn't tell you why. for every CHERRY BOMB or BLOW MY LOAD there is on this album, you have a DEATHCAMP, PILOT, FUCKING YOUNG/PERFECT, and especially SMUCKERS. OKAGA, CA is a great song, if a bit long.
One of the very few albums to leave me with my jaw wide open at its end. Not because of some twist or turn, just the weight of everything crashing down must've lowered it. Whether it wave or sound, I was moved closer to the seat.
how did i forget to review this.
uhhhhhhhhhhh it's really great and has a bunch of bangers n stuffs
i love alchemist on this album and freddie is as good as ever
to enjoy this album, you have to erase the fact that this is a tame impala album from your brain. i didn't do that my first listen and my second listen couldn't recover. i get why people love it, and i know that he's going in a different direction. i just feel like he could've done better with his experience in other electronic/psychadelic subgenres
following the best verse of mister toliver's career on can't say, he decides to make an album with a mere fraction of the hunger and energy he brought to that track, going for a trap/rnb fusion. like im not mad or anything but the potential and expectation here was kinda wasted.
sometimes sheck wes can be left off of a song btw. just a thought.
how did this get nominated for a grammy?
the first track got my hopes up so much. i had no clue who jay electronica was at all before this, and when I looked on the first track and heard Jay-Z, it was bound to get anyone's hopes up. the first track was the best track on the album, which means everything had to go downhill. Travis Scott could've been off The Blinding and it would've changed nothing. I think he just did it to say that the song featured travis scott. Over the ... read more
Westside Gunn is an artist that I could appreciate for the art he makes and how he's different than everyone else in the game, but I can never really get into him. He always hangs around the "just good" areas of my rankings. I don't think he's ever made a truly great full album. Maybe HWH8 or the b-sides for it will prove that wrong. We'll just have to see.
Listen, I'm the first person to support Aesop Rock. This album is great, but it has a feel about it where it feels like every song is repeating the one before it with a few exceptions near the beginning. The beginning was really promising before it started to all blend together. Now, it's just good. Nothing horrible, only a few great moments.
This is a pretty great EP for what it is. The track ratings might be a big overblown for some songs, but I still really love two of the songs on here. DIET_ is great, even if it's boosted a bit by the incredible COLORS performance. 'Cosmic'.m4a is easily my favorite on here, and probably one of my favorite songs of 2020 that I've listened to so far.
Damn. Benny The Butcher was always an artist I liked, but never really focused on until now. This album just doesn't let up at all with the punches. The features turn this album from great to fantastic. Dom Kennedy and Westside Gunn were awesome, but none of them compared to Conway and Freddie Gibbs. They both dropped some of my favorite verses on the album. Not to discredit Benny, by the way. He also does a fantastic job on this great album.
none of my favorite RTJ tracks are on here, but nothing is really done poorly here either. No real standouts, but nothing that I wanted to skip.
This was quite the listen... This is my first Boldy James album, and I feel like that was a mistake. This seems like one of those TPAB-like albums where it just sounds better if you've digested some other works by the artist. There were some songs here which were just good. Overall, though, this was a really engaging listen that really hit me at points. The part where the drums came in on Got Flicked was an easy highlight. Best song was Medusa.
I SAW THE VISION. ALL IT TOOK TO BE SEEN WAS JUST A FEW BAD TIMES AND A KID CUDI ADDICTION TO HAPPEN.
every song on here slaps in one way or another.
except you wild'n cuz im young you're just ok
Apple Music Top 100 ranking in a completely random order because uhhh yeah.
Part 31: #94 Untrue - Burial
This should be the only review on this list that I do not rank. For the time being, of course. I'll definitely look back on this later at a more appropriate time.
Anyways, Untrue is an album that you have to listen to on the album's terms. If you don't embrace what it wants you to embrace, it doesn't give you anything, because that's not what it's made for. ... read more
