Westside Gunn - HEELS HAVE EYES 2
68

Not my favorite WSG album by any means, but it's still a perfectly fine project. Most of the time, it stays in it's 6-7/10 range with some positive and negative exceptions. I should start with the songs that I really loved. HEEL CENA is a fantastic song with what seems like an unnatural beat for WSG, though that may just be my inexperience with him. It's a hard beat that we don't usually hear him rap over, but it is a welcome surprise. his flow is on point and it makes for a ... read more

Joey Bada$$ - Lonely At The Top
80

Joey Bada$$ is an interesting figure in hip-hop for me. He never really stands out to me, yet he's always very consistent with good projects. ALL-AMERIKKKAN BADA$$ is a top 25 rap album of all time for me and 1999 is up there for me too, but he still never stands out as someone I'd name as a "Best 2010's Rapper" contender or anything like that when statistically, he is. Anyways, this album is pretty good. It brings some classic Joey vibes with the grimey beats with ... read more

Kid Cudi - Free
82

I think I'm the only person who genuinely likes Neverland. Yes it's basic pop stuff. Yes it was definitely a "cudi we need this single to do well" attempt. but you know what, I don't care. For some reason, it just sounds good to me. I couldn't tell you why. Anyway, the rest is great too. Submarine is an easy highlight that just gets me moving. This album's just fun and pretty underrated judging from the user score and some reviews I've seen.

JAY-Z - The Blueprint
89

Apple Music Top 100 ranking in a completely random order because chaos or smth like that
Part 30: #13: The Blueprint - Jay-Z

Putting this above Illmatic was... a decision.
I've listened to this album twice before this and this was a pleasant revisit.
Either way, this is peak Jay-Z by a wide margin for a few reasons. First, this is by far the best production on a Jay-Z album. The only thing that comes close is No ID's stellar work on 4:44. Besides that, this is it. That is a direct ... read more

John Coltrane - A Love Supreme

Apple Music Top 100
Part 29: #54: A Love Supreme - John Coltrane

I didn't think my average-based ratings would work here, but it turns out that coincidentally, the rating that I was just feeling like for this album was also the average, so hooray!

I've never listened to a real strictly jazz album. Don't even get me started on who John Coltrane is. Never heard of his name before this.

Now that I have listened to this in the background while doing some stuff, which I found most ... read more

Carole King - Tapestry

Apple Music Top 100 ranking in a completely random order because chaos was always and still is the right option.
Part 28: #38: Tapestry - Carole King

This feels like an album where it's easy to find someone that doesn't like it, but it's also really easy to find someone who does like it too. It's a great album, but it is PRIME music you'd hear in your mother's car while she says, "This is better than any of your hippy-hop stuff ever will be." I'd ... read more

Massive Attack - Blue Lines

Apple Music Top 100 Ranking in a completely random order because i felt like it. i am chaos.
Part 26: #87: Blue Lines - Massive Attack

IT'S FINALLY BACK

This album was the first I'd ever heard of Massive Attack. I vaguely remember some album with a beetle on it being a big album of theirs. That was it. Then I was forced to sit down and listen to them. Then I started to look into them a little while I was listening and it just occurred to me how influential they were.
The album kind ... read more

Kid Cudi - A Kid Named Cudi
81

My original rating for this album was top 5 failures of my life. This is a fantastic project with an insane 5-song run in the middle. It feels exactly like a buildup to the masterpiece that is Man On The Moon 1. I originally gave this somewhere around a 4-5/10, and that was just wrong. Maui Wowie is incredibly underrated for the banger that it is. Man On The Moon (The Anthem) will always be my favorite song here due to it just being scarily relatable to me.

JID - God Does Like Ugly
86

It took me a relisten to really "get" this album, but once it clicked, everything just fell into place. It may not be as powerful or outstanding as The Forever Story, but then again, it's The Forever Story we're talking about. The fact that it's comparable to The Forever Story is a sign that it's still a really good project. JID does it again on this album, creating memorable songs that sound like they came from the heart. The features were especially great. Ty ... read more

JAY-Z & Kanye West - Watch the Throne

This album screams luxury while speaking of deeper topics in hushed voices.

I did not expect this album to be as good as I think it is from the reviews, but I guess it is my own opinion after all. I originally gave it somewhere in the low 70's at first, but I've been enlightened since then. There are so many bangers on this album. No Church In The Wild is an obvious highlight due to what is easily the best chorus of the album on it. African Americans In The Capital Of France is a ... read more

Metallica - Master of Puppets

Apple Music Top 100 Ranking in a totally random order
Part 26: #69: Master Of Puppets - Metallica

For some reason, even though I'd never even heard a Thrash Metal song in my life besides Enter Sandman, I just knew I would love this album. And I was so right.

Master of Puppets is exactly what I expected for Thrash to be while still feeling new on each and every song. There are barely any problems here. Everything is chaotic, rash, and almost hard on the ears at time. That chaos is why I ... read more

Michael Jackson - Thriller

Apple Music's Top 100 Ranked in my own order
Part 25: #2: Thriller - Michael Jackson

Come on, it's goddamn Thriller!
What could you want more of in this album? It has possibly the most iconic three-song run of any album (Thriller, Beat It, Billie Jean). Every song is either a jam that you can just vibe to or a banger that you can just dance to. Either way, it excels. Except for some of those vibier songs. Some of them just don't hit as much as the others. The Lady in My Life and ... read more

Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run

Apple Music Top 100 ranked in a random order

God damn. I thought this man was a country artist. I guess I was proved so very, very wrong in one of the best possible ways.

The generational run from Thunder Road to Born to Run is incredible and genuinely had me considering if this was gonna be my next favorite album of all time for two days. Unfortunately, it dips in quality near the end, which is pretty bad for an album this short, but that five-song stretch is one of the best I've seen. ... read more

Erykah Badu - Baduizm

Apple Music Top 100 in a completely random order
Part 23: #64: Baduizm - Erykah Badu

The only thing I knew about Erykah Badu before this album listen was that she was an RnB artist and that she dated Andre 3000 for a bit and inspired Ms. Jackson... Better than knowing nothing, I guess...
This album is just good. There are definitely standouts, especially Appletree, which is just more upbeat than the rest of the album. Not that an album has to be upbeat or fast for it to be better, but ... read more

Sade - Love Deluxe

Apple Music Top 100 in a completely random order
Part 22: #61: Love Deluxe - Sade

So I've already listened to this because of a list I tried to do back in the beginning of the year, but ended up quitting halfway through. Almost none of my opinions changed besides one song getting slightly better (Feel No Pain). Anyways, this album is beautiful. I'm not the biggest fan of soul, but this just pushed past those boundaries and made me feel everything Sade said. It just kind of stays on ... read more

AC/DC - Back in Black

Apple Music Top 100 Ranking in a random order for no reason (OUT OF HIATUS! [maybe])
Part 21: #90: Back In Black - AC/DC

this entire album is just a camera slowly panning away from car driving through the australian outback. Played ten times in a row.

AC/DC is one of the most known rock bands of all time. Even I knew some songs from them before getting this album. Trust me, that's rare for this list.
The first song was good, and the second song was great! Then the third kinda sounded ... read more

Raekwon - The Emperor's New Clothes

A newer release from Raekwon which was unexpectedly great. It also just dawned on me that Nas hasn't had a bad feature. Not that I've heard, at least. Off topic, but still. Anyways, Bear Hill kind of threw me off even though the album just started. Raekwon has this weird mixing on his voice that just makes it sound off, and it kind of follows on Pomegranate, but that song is great either way. After that, I didn't hear it as much. The Ghostface Killah features went off, Raekwon ... read more

JACKBOYS - JACKBOYS 2

REREVIEW

IT ONLY GOT BETTER IN MY EYES. ACTUALLY, IT GOT A BIT WORSE BUT THEN I LISTENED AGAIN AND LOVED IT EVEN MORE THAN THE FIRST TIME SOMEHOW. I CAN FINALLY TELL PUSHA AND MALICE APART, DON'T WORRY

On The Velvet Underground & Nico - The Velvet Underground & Nico
"@DarkHorse Sure. I think Venus In Furs is a great song because it manages to combine the great instrumentation with similarly good vocals and lyrics. It's an impressive song for it being made in 1967. On the other hand, Heroin feels like it's constantly building up to something big and it just never really happens. The vocals are fine enough and the instrumentation is also pretty decent. Eventually, around the five-minute mark, the vocals and instruments don't really go at the same tempo and some of the instruments quite literally sound like rusty metal creaking. Also note that this is just on a first listen and that my opinions could change with time, but upon relisten to both songs, Heroin doesn't seem to get any better."
