Chat Pile - God’s Country
90

Meant to post a rating earlier since I listened to this a couple weeks ago now. I enjoyed this album a lot more than Cool World for some reason, and I now can officially say with confidence that I am a Chat Pile fan. The passion and sheer dark and gritty tone of their music is something to behold.

The Smashing Pumpkins - Adore
93

This is so gas. The Smashing Pumpkins really never misses. This is a great example of a group switching up their style but maintaining such songwriting and creative integrity.

Wilco - Being There
79

I have really mixed feelings, but overall really positive. There are some really great songs, but I feel like it’s just too… normal for Wilco. Wasn’t as bizarre and creative as I’d expect from them. Idk, it’s still great tho.

Edit: I just realized that this is their second release ever. Lol, that actually makes a lot of sense. This is actually really creative and amazing for a second album.

Of Mice & Men - Of Mice & Men
90

This guy’s vocals are insane, damn. Also I love how melodic and dramatic it gets; pretty much exactly what I want out of Metalcore.

The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead
100

Welp, that’s an easy 10

The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
98

Oh BOY, do I have thoughts about this album. I love it. It’s wonderful. It’s so so strange, it’s unpolished, it’s mystifying, and with an ending like that… it’s surprisingly tragic. I know this isn’t supposed to be a concept album but the fact that it ends the way it does leaves a sour taste in my mouth. More like, it just makes the whole experience seem melancholic in retrospect. It’s cool tho.

Other than that, the other songs are just some ... read more

Jets to Brazil - Four Cornered Night
74

Pretty chill music, nothing that really stands out but I dig it.

TOOL - Lateralus
90

Tool fans when the breakdown hits at 16:42 of the 25 minute song

Rage Against the Machine - Evil Empire
78

Really great stuff, but unfortunately there were just a lot of slow sections where I got kind of bored. Didn’t get as hardcore as I really hoped for.

sign crushes motorist - i'll be okay
65

This album is not perfect, and as many others have pointed out its flaws almost outweigh its pros. That being said, there are some songs on here that are genuinely sad in the purest way, which I have to respect.

Duster - In Dreams
90

This is PEAK! I love Duster sm

Duster has taken on a modern sound that works really well. I can’t say it’s completely reminiscent of the older work that made me fall in love with them, but it’s a natural progression that I can’t help but get behind. Plus, I think it’s ultimately really good for the band that they’re growing and evolving.

MORTAL REMINDER - MORTAL REMINDER
58

I don’t like the sound of this album. Every drop has this weird bass boost thing that doesn’t sound good and the vocals are pretty ok but the guitars sound off and idk man it just does not sound right to my ears.

Mr. Bungle - California
50

Not doing anything for me

Chat Pile - Cool World
79

First half was honestly not very remarkable to me. Starting at Tape, it really picked up. Pretty cool stuff after that.

Third Eye Blind - Third Eye Blind
85

Lives up to the hype. Pure, unadulterated 90s energy and spirit, which I will always appreciate.

90

This is really intense and awesome from start to finish. Gotta love Meshuggah

Burial - Untrue
95

This album was very cool and very fitting for the night walk I just took. Really cool sound design stuff and cool vocal sampling throughout. Just really cool stuff. I’m surprised I have the attention span to appreciate it 😆. But seriously, I hope to listen to more ambient stuff like this because it’s really good and definitely out of my comfort zone. Favorite songs were Endorphin and In McDonalds.

Hum - You'd Prefer an Astronaut
80

Hum is such an icon of a band. Their riffs and vocals are in some ways pretty simple, but their overall sound is so big and powerful. Definitely a nice album.

Jars of Clay - Redemption Songs
NR

Not worth rating, but I can say I enjoyed the listen. A simple worship album that gives me some nostalgia and good vibes. The “It Is Well With My Soul” cover is pretty egregious tho.

Sigur Rós - Ágætis byrjun
NR

Man, this is beautiful. Has some very cool moments.

"“ His old Minecraft videos were cool when it was first going off and he was relatively small. But as soon as he blew up, something just immediately switched for me and he just came off as such an egotistical, narcissistic little shit.” This sums up my thoughts exactly with dream. I do not like him at all anymore and his music follows that sentiment."

"You can’t dislike this album so much and praise Will Of The People. I’m sorry, but that just feels wrong."
On PipePanic's review of Muse - Origin of Symmetry
"This review sums up my experience with muse as well. When I first looked into the band, I also started with New Born— and it instantly transformed my preconceptions of music and blew my mind. For that reason I will always cherish this album… but also I don’t even need that reason this album is amazing."
