猫 シ Corp. - 夏休み
NR

Last (hidden) track "引き裂く" samples Natalie Imbruglia's "Torn"!

Unexpect - WE, Invaders
100

Rating includes the bonus track "Puppet's Strange Vision" from the re-issue as a bonus disc to some exclusive edition of their record "In a Flesh Aquarium"

ØKSE - ØKSE

I need more such modern jazz - that sounds neither like a rehearsal nor is it an easy-listening (over-simplifying the more musical side of modern jazz here, talking about - to be more exact - these recent Zorn's releases with a duo or a trio of guitars, which isn't even something new in his discography). This is not only free jazz, nor is it just "fusion", but I like to call such jazz progressive - with the rappers sprinkled all over - amazing!

Death Grips - Death Grips

I don't love "Known for It" & "Where's It at" enough

Poppy - Spit

Rating includes the other track, "Church Outfit"

E L U C I D - Police & Thieves
NR

"We Carry On" by Portishead

Sun City Girls - Tibetan Jazz 666

Surprisingly less irritating than most of what I've heard by these guys, because is 100% instrumental. Last track is nice detour into relaxing skeletal stripped-down "world" (preferring the term "folk" myself) music, which they always play - but here it's not too noisy in comparison to lots of such other examples in their discography. The rest of the material seemed kinda sparse with mostly generally guitar and drums (maybe my speakers didn't play me the ... read more

SOPHIE - OIL OF EVERY PEARL'S UN-INSIDES NON-STOP REMIX ALBUM
NR

"Pony Whip" is even humorous!

Peace be upon your soul, SOPHIE

E L U C I D - Smash & Grab
NR

Was the interpolation of a partial somewhat unpleasantly to me sung weirdly auto-tuned cover of Pixies' "Where is My Mind?" really that necessary

E L U C I D - Horse Latitude

It seems that this guy has as much art rap albums as he has random cinematic jazz-influenced industrial mixtapes (not that I mind!)

Mike Cooper - Steelaway

Interesting jungle/drill and bass+electric lap steel guitar experiment, but probably this combination would not appeal to all fans of outlandish genres-blending

Pan Sonic - Kesto (234.48:4)

Magdalena Bay - Imaginal Disk

I like the glitches on "Watching T.V.", the ending of "Tunnel Vision" and all the similar "wacky" sound examples that might have escaped me on the first listen - but I definitely will not revisit this soon only in order to maybe find some tiny tidbits of music that I'd like.

NR

Not a fan of this, but I can understand the appeal

Rawtekk - Here's To Them
NR

Started off strong and after "Aftermath" started to derail for me, with a few exceptions at the end

billy woods - Camouflage [Re-release]
NR

One of the more normal records by billy woods, which is to be expected considering this is his debut

Paul McCartney - McCartney II
95

Regarding the 1993 version with those bonus tracks

billy woods - Known Unknowns
NR

Quoting Nirvana at the very end!

"What are better gamelan records, in your opinion? I am going through the most highly rated gamelan releases on RYM and this was one of them, but I'm always curious for more gamelan - it might be my favourite traditional music out there (not to mention that I based my artistic alter-ego on a fictitious person from Yogyakarta)"

"A huge difference between the 1986 version (which, apparently, still aren't the original recordings, but remixes by the label RRRec themselves) and the 1993 re-issue is the bonus disc "Loop Panic Limited".
