I need more such modern jazz - that sounds neither like a rehearsal nor is it an easy-listening (over-simplifying the more musical side of modern jazz here, talking about - to be more exact - these recent Zorn's releases with a duo or a trio of guitars, which isn't even something new in his discography). This is not only free jazz, nor is it just "fusion", but I like to call such jazz progressive - with the rappers sprinkled all over - amazing!
Surprisingly less irritating than most of what I've heard by these guys, because is 100% instrumental. Last track is nice detour into relaxing skeletal stripped-down "world" (preferring the term "folk" myself) music, which they always play - but here it's not too noisy in comparison to lots of such other examples in their discography. Was the interpolation of a partial somewhat unpleasantly to me sung weirdly auto-tuned cover of Pixies' "Where is My Mind?" really that necessary
It seems that this guy has as much art rap albums as he has random cinematic jazz-influenced industrial mixtapes (not that I mind!)
Interesting jungle/drill and bass+electric lap steel guitar experiment, but probably this combination would not appeal to all fans of outlandish genres-blending
I like the glitches on "Watching T.V.", the ending of "Tunnel Vision" and all the similar "wacky" sound examples that might have escaped me on the first listen - but I definitely will not revisit this soon only in order to maybe find some tiny tidbits of music that I'd like.
