What threw me off guard is that this album is the most inconsistent thing on planet Earth. How do you end up putting a 6/10 song with a 10/10 song in an album? Twice?
Other than that, it has a really modern vibe present in all tracks, and it had me airdrumming in a busy street for everyone to see.
i dont care
Coldwave is a really trendy genre in Russia currently. I've seen this album on rym, and thought that I've seen the cover art somewhere, but didn't pay too much attention, however, just about one hour ago, I've seen a thread on /mu/ asking if the album was great or not, and most answers were speaking positively about the record, so I gave it a try.
It is edgy, but exciting, and while listening to individual songs off this record is an ok idea, it makes sence to just listen to this all together. ... read more
Now, that I am more strict at ratings, I wanted to risk, and listen to a record that Is praised as a classic. An Underground classic. From Russia. And well? It paid off. Very well.
This record is 11 tracks long, and It's one of the most fun records I've ever listened to. The crossover between slavic folk and post-punk, as well as jazz rock and art rock create an amusing experience that you don't want to end. This album is one of those albums that encourage you to listen to more, as the ... read more
This is the most dynamic energetic coldwave album I've ever listened to.
Siekiera did a great job at this, and I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, coldwave is a very repetitive genre, and listening to 10 songs in a row of this is pretty exhausting to say the least.
Better than Homogenic.
There's a lot of things that have been carried over from her previous album, Homogenic. The synths, the trip-hoppy aesthetic, but this is just better.
Angelic, otherworldly and dreamy, marvelous, utopian... the list of things that can describe this is huge, and it's because Bjork has made an eccelent job at creating another modern classic. It is filled with feelings, and it feels stunning, just like a lucid dream that you do not want to end. It is Homogenic but with a ... read more
I don't get it. 11 tracks, and most of them are ok? I guess? There's really nothing to say here.
Lazy, half-finished, but iNFlUENTial. There's good songs on this, but considering they have basically no structure, they could be called experimental(?). So considering the Pixies are teenage white girl core, mixed along with other famous artists (mostly pop), did half the fanbase of Pixies actually listen to this in it's enitrety or do they claim they like it for the sake of naming Where is my mind? to be their favorite song like the normies they are?
Ok, it is great, but is it as good as an 89 on the user score? It is a great Bowie release, a very wild one, but I didn't feel anything while listening to this. Station to Station is a very funky record indeed, but for me Bowie is just not fitting with funk music.
I enjoyed it, but I didn't feel anything special towards the album. There's not really much I can say about this. It feels like Feels (by AnCo) (no pun intended)
A unique experience. It's a one of a kind album. Mixing Glitch Pop, IDM and Shoegaze was a really good idea. The album feels really positive and brings a smile to your face.
It feels like a mess, but it is truly the opposite, and you start to realize it more and more with every minute of the album's runtime. It feels much shorter than it actually is, because it is really pleasurable to listen to.
Dream Pop mixed in with Dark wave, Ethereal Wave and Cold Wave perfectly. Cocteau Twins turn the dream element of dream pop into a pleasant nightmare. A really addictive one. I go back to this a lot. And stop denying, it is better than Heaven or Las Vegas. This having 115 ratings actually makes me think how much better this website would be if it were more popular.
If you want to add reverb to your sad dream pop songs, listen to this. It has the perfect amount on every track. The atmosphere of ... read more
This is what Captain Beefheart making jazz would sound like. If you call Mingus and Miles Davis avant-garde, this is avant-avant-garde.
Also, I had barely any internet in the last 16 days, so there's not a lot of reviews I can publish. I've listened to so much stuff it hurts that I can't write a review on it! Gonna be here in 3 days.
A really cool Michael Gira project. It's got it's flaws, but for the most part it's bloody alright. Problem with this record is, it hasn't got the "Personality" a lot of my favorite Swans records do. Can't say too much about it. Worth a listen
Avant-garde, krautrock, psychedelic, funky and groovy, for 1972 it would be the second coming of Jesus. First one being, of course, Trout Mask Replica.
I didn't listen to all of the songs, because Apple Music is not a good streaming service and grays out 40% of Can's songs. I would've listened to Tago Mago, but apparently 50% of the album is gone. Luckily, this album doesn't suffer as much - only "Soup" is unavailable.
Can is weird, but good. It's dumb fun. Basically, it's proto-AnCo.
I have no idea why this album gets this much praise. It's not innovative in any sort of way for 1992 (It's literally Unknown Pleasures as a neofolk album), and yes, it has some good songs, but most of them are average. I liked it, I just don't think it's anything special.
Making an album sad is an easy task. Yes, I loved Carrie and Lowell for the sadness of it, but there were much more elements making that album a masterpiece in my eyes. So I'm not gonna talk about the sad topics that this album depicts.
This record was always a struggle for me. I always thought it was a basic blend of shoegaze with post punk with fitting lyrics. But now, it really did click. The singing on this record always distracted me. It feels like a man who sang for emo bands his entire ... read more
Swans are probably my favorite band at the moment. No matter what I listen to I get amazed.
This album is similar to White Light From The Mouth Of Infinity. Except there's a woman singing. Which actually fits.
With this LP, Swans entered my favorite era of theirs. They implemented gothic and post punk as main elements of the album, which was the first footstep in the direction of such albums as WLFTMOF, To Be Kind, The Seer and The Great Annihilator. There were also some post-rock elements ... read more
I don't enjoy this as much as everyone else, because some tracks just don't do for me. I don't care too much for Grass and Banshee Beat, but some of the tracks are sick. I'm a big fan of Flesh Canoe
Clocking in just at under 20 mintues, VR SEX's EP - Horseplay is very experimental and dark.
Straight off the bat - first song is a 10. I can't deny it. It's just too good. Landmine is stuck in my head and I can't get it out of there. The jazzy saxophones, accompanied by explosions and great gothic vocals make for my favorite song of 2019.
The other songs - not as good. They are more experimental, and it just doesn't fit. The second song is total shite, the third song is ok, but rather ... read more
