Oh Stevie Wonder, you sweet, succulent, soulful man.
I used to think this album was just "decent". I just had a relisten, and this is absolutely insane quality. I'm sad it didn't click with me sooner
Some great moments, but super bloated with some cheesy hooks. Sonically interesting a lot of the time though especially in the beginning. If they cut like 5 songs of here my score probably would have gone up by like 10 points.
This album means a lot to me.
This thing is so catchy, fun, energetic, and memorable, Not a single song on here is a miss. It's not the most groundbreaking record of all time or anything but it has seriously amazing songwriting.
Thank god spotify randomly recommended "Chelsea Dagger" to me in my sophomore year of high school, because then this would have never been the soundtrack to my life for practically a month straight.
None of The Fratellis other releases came even ... read more
For some reason listening to this, I picture Markiplier playing Dream Daddy Dating Simulator.
What a great sophomore album though so many great moments on here with an immaculate vibe.
I Think Ur A Contra is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever listened to
I have so many memories attached to this album so I'll list some of them.
1: A long time ago, must have been 2021, I was playing Left 4 Dead 2 with my friend Parker (One of the greatest multiplayer games ever btw) and we were both listening to a song on repeat. He listened to some sort of Hard rock/Metal song, meanwhile, I was listening to "Campus" on repeat for like 2 hours as I slashed the heads of various zombies. It was beautiful.
2: I remember drawing the view from the ... read more
I first discovered the song "Bodysnatchers" from a video of a cat riding a skateboard at a skate park. To this day, I have not had a feeling remotely close to what I felt like watching that.
Humanity may have peaked with that cat.
I used to HATE this album, and it was very un-warrented. I know my score is still pretty low but I don't hate this album. It just doesn't appeal to me.
I think the reason I always associate a negative feeling with this album is because when I first listened to this I pulled an all night the night before and was trying to exercise, which SUCKED. Also,it was so much different and more produced than their early work that it disappointed me, so all of that added up to one of the worst ... read more
A while ago I got my friend Parker into this album and I felt very proud of that, it's always nice to put someone onto a piece of music you enjoy, especially since I don't get to do it that often.
Good album, it starts to get a little old towards the end with less memorable moments but it's still a fun time.
I guess I don't really have anything insightful to comment on.
Waiting Room is a fucking amazing song, I remember pure energy coursing through my veins listening to ... read more
For some reason, this Album is strongly attached to two memories. One of me playing Overwatch on Illios in 2023, and another of me falling asleep in junior year science class to "Titus Was Born"
This album exudes a feeling of nostalgia for me and I don't know why. To be fair most of Young the Giant's music does this, maybe just because I grew up hearing this genre of music played around me on the radio and in media when it was popular.
The project as a whole is a vibe, but ... read more
I have a lot of nostalgia for this album, It was basically the soundtrack to my sophomore year in high school.
Yes, it didn't reinvent the wheel or do anything super interesting, but I think the songs are really well-crafted and heartfelt.
The vocalist is a big seller in this band as well.
I distinctly remember feeling so depressed about myself while listening to "cough syrup" to try and soothe myself.
A great album that I think deserves more respect.
This album is a lot better than I remember. In my opinion, it's still probably the weakest strokes record, besides maybe Comedown Machine. However, I used to think this album was terrible, aside from a few amazing tracks.
Now if I was in the mood for a strokes record this is probably one of my last choices, but It's fun for what it is.
Razorblade is beautiful
You only live once was my most listened-to song in 2023. My Spotify said I listened to it 103 times over that year if I ... read more
I miss Demon Dayz :(
It's not terrible, humility is a bop. some good moments but overall, a pretty forgettable album.
I honestly dont connect with this album as much as everyone else does. There is still some great material on here though.
It's pretty all over the place musically and although I do think that's a flaw for the album, it definitely adds to its character and charm.
When this album hits though, IT HITS. 19-200 puts this album up by like 10 points alone.
Definitely some duds on this album like Starshine, but it's still a nice experience.
if we add the animated music videos into this album, I think it's an 80+.
Some really pretty vocal harmonies and a handful of nice bops. but other than that there are some pretty bland tracks on here.
Definitley has the least visit kicks charm compared to all of their other albums.
Better and tunnel vision are great though! the ending track is also really delicate and pretty
