way more stripped back and calm than his previous works. I do think people gloss over this album a little too much, though, there's genuinely some amazing songs in here. remove some of the bloat and that god awful title track, and this is an amazing, soothing experience.
Very easy to listen too ablum, I've heard it a bunch of times. Short, sweet, and simple, but still carries a romantic indie feel. Good stuff, also 18 Cigarettes is an amazing song
Rest in peace, The Prince of Darkness.....
You live on in the name of my dog (Ozzy Pawsbourne)
Can you believe past me didn't like this album? What a silly, incorrect boy I was....
SOme amazing high points. I also have a strong nostalgic attachment to this album, makes me think of simpler times. Or at least simpler times from my current perspective.
Pretty good
I love Deleter. I have many fond memories of that song and think it has such a fun and carefree energy to it. It kind of feels like something that would be in the soundtrack of a teen coming-of-age movie.
The rest of the album is pretty damn forgettable. A couple of highlights here and there, with Inside Out and ahead of myself being fun additions, but I instantly forget most of these songs' existence right after listening to the album.

This album starts off with some really fun and catchy bangers, but then devolves a little bit afterwards with way more cheesy moments. There are still some highlights after those first, like, 5 songs. But it doesn't reach the heights of the start.
I personally find GROUPLOVE's style super endearing and fun, and although I feel I normally wouldn't like this, the energy and good times radiating off this record is too infections to not enjoy myself at least a little bit.
I remember the night after I got surgery in both of my eyes, I couldn't see anything, let alone open them for more than 5 seconds at a time. SO I put this album on, and just sat in my dark room with my eyes shut for the entire runtime. I don't think I'll forget that listening experience. I love this album, I get why people would prefer Modest mouse earlier works, but this is most likely my personal favorite.
This album is just super fun. It falls off in quality towards the end, and their voices can be a little grating sometimes, but idk I like this album for what it is. Also Tongue Tied is one of my favorite songs ever. I grew up with that banger.
This is a decent follow-up album to "Girls Can Tell"
This album has the band experimenting a lot more with techniques and sounds which is unfamiliar to their catalog. Although these musical decisions aren't the craziest in the world they are definitely more interesting than their predecessors.
Panning is way more extreme on this album compared to other projects, instruments are hard panned on many songs but it doesn't feel jarring and fills up the space nicely.

Catchy, Punchy, and fun.
A step up in quality compared to the band's sophomore release (although that one was also pretty good).
I remember Spotify auto-recommended me "Anything You Want" on my birthday during the latter half of the day and I listened to it a crap ton. That song is almost solely responsible for me checking out the rest of Spoon's discography because, before that, I only knew a couple of songs from their 2022 release. To this day one of my favorite spoon ... read more
Very solid album.
Although I may slightly prefer the rawness and edge of their debut, This is a great follow-up.
Like most of Spoon's discography, it's not an incredibly interesting album, but it definitely makes up for it in solid songwriting.
Not to mention the mixing on this project is so punchy and crisp, the drums and bass are so clear in the mix with some great guitar tones.
Advanced Cassette and Metal Detektor were the big highlights for me. I actually remember my cousin ... read more
Why is this rated so low? This is a super solid and fun debut for spoon!
There are catchy and memorable moments all over the place, a nice sense of cohesion through the tracks, and nothing overstays its welcome. It's a really great album!
I get that some people may not find this sound very interesting/played out, but it hits all the marks for me.
I remember not liking this album when I first listened to it over a year ago,I always LOVED and listened the shit out of the song ... read more
This album is actually pretty decent. Yes I get it very dirivitve and the band is a led zepplin rip-off blah blah blah, but I likes a lot of the songs on here.
As much as I love Bob Dylan and his harmonica playing, it really does sound like a cat getting skinned alive at some points in this record.
Solid album though
I was in Tokyo, Japan when I first listened to this album. It was late at night and I was marinating in my hotel room's hot tub, eating Japanese brand candies from the convenience store on the lower level, overlooking the Tokyo tower from outside my window.
It would be improbable to find a more perfect first listen to one of the most beautiful albums I've yet listened to.
