while he’s generally lacking some worthwhile things to talk about on a lot of the songs on this project, jpegmafia’s rapping and especially his production have never sounded better, effortlessly combining the sounds of metal with his signature style to create an extremely innovative and boundary-pushing album

favorites: don’t rely on other men, I’ll be right there, either on or off the drugs

such a genuinely heartfelt and bittersweet project, you can really tell that this is the exact album porter wanted to make even if it wasn’t the album a lot of his fans wanted him to make.

the fact that quadeca can casually drop a mixtape of leftover tracks that’s more sonically cohesive and impressive than almost any other official album I’ve heard this year is insane, easily one of the most talented up-and-coming artists imo

Arguably Kanye’s magnum opus, the grandiose atmosphere of this album is something I haven’t seen executed to this degree before in any other album I’ve listened to

Absolute classic, easily one of the best rap albums of the early 2000s imo. Some songs haven’t aged nearly as well as others but this is just so so good and consistent overall

One of Kanye’s more ambitious albums from a production and lyrical standpoint, the high points of this project are so grand and surprisingly cinematic. It’s only a slight step down from The College Dropout, as some songs in the first half feel a bit underdeveloped and forgettable.

you start to realize this album’s actually perfect when you don’t have a bunch of aoty users in your ear saying that drunk and hot girls is a bad song
a classic album full to the brim with many of kanye’s most iconic, feel-good songs, this was my first real introduction to rap music and my personal favorite rap album of all time
