Very calm and distinct from other Incubus projects. Super smooth and pleasant, it’s timeless, and not dated in the slightest. Near perfect Alt Rock.
The Unseen is highlighted by great production from Madlib and good bars from Quasimoto. (idk just wasn’t feeling it in this review)😑
(Just figured out that Quasimoto is Madlib, I feel very dumb🥸😩😮)
Crazy that this was done in 2004. The Chalice was Billy woods’ first project, and probably his worst, some of the production is cool, but I just don’t see this as a Billy woods album, to be fair his second album was made 5 years later, and his most notable projects were made almost a decade later. Not bad for a debut, but bad for Billy woods.
Billy woods’ GOLLIWOG is as spooky as it is good, the haunting vibe of the album is done through careful planning by Billy, and creative production. That leads into what I was going to say next, my favorite part of this album is how so many of my favorite producers all went together to create such an eerie and haunting selection of beats, and you would think having lots of different producers in a single album might twist the soundscape, but they each contributed very well and created a ... read more
A worthy sequel to Alfredo, and the switch from Italian to Japanese is pretty nice, it adds flavor to the 2 albums’ concept, and throws Gibbs’ into the consideration for best rapper discography. But don’t forget Alc, his production is the biggest reason the album was so good, don’t get me wrong, Freddie killed it too, but beats like Ensalada? Nah they just hit different.
A standout album from a standout artist, Anderson .Paak’s ‘Ventura’ is what I consider his best, Paak does really well, and proves why he is a shiny star in music today.
Favorite song - Come Home
Can’t think of anything more Southern swagger than Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik( geez that took a while to spell) there has been great Southern albums and projects but I can undoubtedly say that this is the best one of them all, 3 Stacks outdid himself, great bars and flows, the funk he puts out and carefree swagger was not seen in the 90’s at that point. Big Boi matched his energy with equally dirty and Southern production, a phenomenal project from one of raps finest. ( ... read more
Crazy that this is Tame Impala’s worst, still a good project, and we all need more Tame Impala, even if it isn’t his best.
So many iconic hits and important songs in history on here, truly inspirational and a detriment to boost rap to what it is today.
From top to bottom, the vibe flows and shifts, but stays rooted around a fixed point and never strays too far away from what it really is, its aggressive, deep, and very experimental, as a casual listen, would not recommend, but if you’re sitting down to truly digest what is going on here, you will find this project very enjoyable, with dälek’s aggressive and also spiritual lyrics making for a good, but not so calm listen.
It’s crazy that this already an absolute classic, I remember first hearing this and initially thinking it was mid. . . How times change. This album is absolutely fantastic. In my opinion, both Alc and Gibbs’ best projects to this day, and they’ve had many near perfect ones, but Alfredo takes the cake for me, from 1985 to All Glass, this is one of the greatest modern rap albums of the modern hip-hop era.
Favorite Tracks - 1985, Babies and Fools, Look at Me
A strange add to my perfect list, but the HD version of the game carries my childhood, so many classics on this. You may not know what they are, but you’ve most likely heard them somewhere. When I was younger I would loop the title screen song and have it playing all night to lull me to bed, I absolutely adore everything about this game and especially the album.
Shoutout @birbspy for the recommendation, this project is pretty funny to me, almost like the Yuno Miles of Modern day rock, but there is a decent amount of substance to this album, I liked the guitar work throughout the project, the lyrics are funny which adds to the quality of the album, just because it’s a bit unserious doesn’t mean it’s bad, although when you’re anything like Yuno Miles, in any genre, there is a certain ceiling you can’t get past.
Really love Familiar, I watched this movie a few years ago and liked some of the stuff in it, found its soundtrack, it’s aight.
Straight Outta Compton got gangster rap on its feet, 2Pacalypse Now helped it walk, and The Infamous let it run. A true New York gangster rap album, the gritty tales from the streets Prodigy paints alongside Havoc’s classic production makes for a very enjoyable experience.
An absolute classic at this point, Q put so much quality and effort into this album, the production is there, it is murky, and has its own kind of swagger, in an age where gangster rap began to become watered down and lost some of its quality, Q stuck a flagpole in the ground and tried to save the declining genre, and he absolutely succeeded. Qi’s swagger and bars never cease to amaze.
