It seems like they got the memo about guitar solos because there is one in almost every song. The electronic elements are also very welcome. As always Static-X pours their heart and soul into their music. There might be a few skips upon further listens like "Reptile" but overall this is as solid as it gets. With only one more album before Wayne's death I really hope their sixth album isn't as bad as they all say.
Might be the weirdest project of 2026 so far. Only about half the songs have anything to do with nature as a concept. The rest feel like songs she had on a hard drive somewhere that she decided to rework onto this album. Some of them are nice to listen to. Others like "351%" and "an apple a day" are catastrophic cringe I didn't know existed anymore. This "cutesy" and overly quirky music is something I have genuine distain for.
It's like they don't have anything to say. Like they came up with the song titles first and wrote the lyrics afterwards. Sure, the songs sound nice. I don't know when I would ever listen to Converge. Not in the car. Not around friends. Not in my lonesome. Come to think of it, I just did, but that's because I want to give this acclaimed band my attention. The problem is that I can't get into their music.
Goddamnit, I'm old. Every midwest emo band I like has grown up to become regular rock bands, and maybe that's a sign for me to get off my ass and do something with my time before the inevitable monotony of old life and my eventual croaking. Or maybe this doesn't mean anything. See, this is what the internet does to you. It turns you into a pretentious douchebag.
Without a few filler tracks this album would have one of the strongest second halfs of any Static-X album. I am absolutely in love with this band, and I wish I could've seen them live before Wayne died. His voice got better and better as they went and it seems like he never stopped caring about the music.
I used to think Taylor Swift was SO cool when I was a kid. Of course, now I have found out about hundreds of artists better than her so her music usually means nothing to me. That might sound corny coming from any other user, but I'm Burt Lancaster and don't you forget it.
The first half of this album was so good, and then the rest of the album happens. I don't get the hate for 'Stay Stay Stay' and I don't get the love for 'The Last Time' which is where ... read more
Listening to this and 'Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk' while playing Need For Speed is gonna go down as one of the greatest musical memories I'll ever have. These guys would make two masterpieces within three years of each other and somehow didn't become the biggest band on the planet, with Ace of Base and Shania Twain dominating 1994 and 1997 respectively. Funny how music works commercially but not surprising at all.
I put this album on back in the day to help me sleep, but I ended up staying up late and skipping class in the morning because Wolfgang Voigt had created an ambient/techno fusion that I couldn't keep my ears off of. The herd thinks that 'Pop' is his best album... No it isn't...
If I made this I would never stop boasting about it. It has been one of my favorite albums for 6 years now. Each song is crafted with complexity and standard pop-influences so that it can be enjoyed by both casual listeners and autistic music-bros at the same time, and no one can deny the genius in that.
His voice is really good and I'm a fan of the rock'n'roll and indie-pop influences. It mixes together kind of perfectly and makes for an entertaining 47 minutes.
I was never a fan of 'Music Has the Right to Children' but I must say that this really impressed me. Boards of Canada has a talent for creating these very unique soundscapes that sound dreamy at times, but also like they could be the soundtrack for the dystopian futures in movies like Mr. Nobody or the original 'Rollerball'. In other words: exactly my jam.
And I thought Wisconsin Death Trip was awesome. Static X is better than Linkin Park. The music sounds exactly like what Wayne Static looks like, and that's a good thing. I have officially found my new summer feel-good album. After listening to Deftones on my sad days for five years it might be time for a change.
Hey There Delilah is actually great, it's just that aoty decided they can't like melodramatic and basic love songs without each other's permission.
The best Nu Metal album no one has heard. I didn't find a single song boring, redundant or slow. Wayne Static was a fantastic vocalist and I knew his energy was gonna be the best part when I first started listening. I thought this was a no-skip at first but then I read the lyrics for Love Dump and it's absolutely disgusting. I'm not a wuss or anything, I watched The Human Centipede 3 without blinking, but scat is kinda where I draw the line at what I'm willing to listen to.
AAAALLLRRIGGHHTT!
It's easy for me to be biased because VanossGaming has been one of my favorite YouTube channels for 10+ years, but I honestly think this is amazing. Evan isn't trying to copy any artist or follow trends like any other YouTuber-turned-musician. This album feels genuine because this is his own personal style.
