Kevin Abstract - American Boyfriend: A Suburban Love Story
80

Kevin Abstract was able to take the most awkward, challenging, and downright miserable parts of his young life and give it to us as a compelling - and entertaining - narrative. This is true artistry. To bring the story of being misunderstood, judged, and without a voice in the format of a "suburban love story" is truly a stroke of genius. This album has grown on me over the years, and even though it's not the most polished thing Kevin has produced, it may go down as his most ... read more

keshi - Requiem

I really enjoyed Keshi's debut album, so I had high expectations for 'Reqiuem', and this album hit the mark...for the most part.

It's a bit difficult to explain. Keshi is an artist who has excelled at creating both stripped-back and highly-produced songs. So, it makes sense that he would include both styles on this album (as he did with the previous one). Yet, there are moments in both styles that are really good, but also other moments that feel pretty lacklustre. That ... read more

FINNEAS - For Cryin' Out Loud!

FINNEAS wears his heart on his sleeve and showcases his various influences on this album, from Rock to Pop to Electronic. There are even times when I can hear the particular bands that inspired the songs on this album. While Finneas, at times, may fall a bit flat, and the songs could benefit from some more "oomph" behind them, this is still a smooth listening experience where Finneas expresses himself in quite a meaningful way.

Future - MIXTAPE PLUTO

Every song on this tape sounds like it's remixing the last one; nothing on it sounds like it is trying to be its own unique song.

Well, except for Plutoski, that one is something else.

I take a bit of a break from reviewing albums and return to this...oh boy.

The album's opening track is the "anthemic" statement that this is a woman's world and men are lucky to be living in it; it gives the listener a fairly good idea of what the album is meant to be about. The very next track features 21 Savage, whose third line is: "I'm like Amazon 'cause I got what you need (21)". How lucky Katy was that she secured his services for the album.

About

Currently catching up on a year's worth of reviews.

I'll listen to anything at least once, in search of dopamine, or cringe, whichever comes first.

My library is basically my to-do list, containing all the albums I still need to listen to and rate.

Feel free to drop me your recommendations :)

This is my comprehensive ranking of all the albums in the Brockhampton extended universe (I'll try to get everyone's work here). Drama and nonsense aside, I want to put all the albums here ...
