It's a great project, don't get me wrong but this album has 1 glaring flaw and 1 glaring positivity.
First the bad news. Why are like half of the songs in one of my ears like idk why i don't like it but i don't
But A Day In The Life is fucking amazing, and i love the experimental pop elements.
It's solid! but this album would be like 20 points higher if it was a mono audio album
EDIT: 73->83 I shouldn't let the non-mono fact bring me down because man this album is amazing. It's truly ... read more
This year I don't think there's been an album that's intrigued me more. Hiss is a project I went into expecting not to like. But this album sets the bar for both grindcore and metal albums.
This album had something i'd like to call "The Donuts Effect". Donuts by J Dilla is an album with over 30 songs that is still under 45 minutes. these albums with a giant track list but short songs work for me, and I think it works best with Grindcore. A genre so dependent on riffs and ... read more
This is the final Injury Reserve project in their published spotify discography that I've heard, maybe I'll listen to their other stuff eventually.
This is great
wow... it's extremely consistent. And it's great
Alright Soundtrack part 5
This is the first soundtrack that i am reviewing today where I have not heard all of the songs. Mostly because I have not played Minecraft extensively. On top of this, I wanted to review this anyways outside of doing just soundtracks, because I've heard praise
And my god
This is an amazing ambience album. I love it. Everything about it is amazing. Get rid of Cat, Dog, and Thirteen and this is perfect.
EDIT: 94->90
Soundtracks part 4
damn
god damn
see I don't even have to do much separation from the music and the game because this game is so tiny that it is easy to. And I love how this is 40 songs but only about 35 minutes. Totaka did this game's soundtrack right. Rather than having multiple versions of one song that are each 4 minutes long, he has short songs that are just tidbits. Am I a bit upset that like half of these songs are sound effects? Sure, but I don't care. This is composed brilliantly and ... read more
Part 3 of soundtrack ratings
It's really hard for me to rate this when half of the ost is just 20 second songs and versions of other songs. It's even harder for me to rate this considering I truly have to rate a 4 hour fucking album.
this ost makes me so mad because I genuinely think that it could be shortened to about 50 tracks. And even then it would still feel long.
That being said, I can't look at this at well it fits the game I have to look at this music. The pieces and composition ... read more
Part 2 of rating game soundtracks
When looking at this tracklist, it is daunting. 70 tracks? but then when you take a closer look, you realize that unlike the first game's soundtrack, this soundtrack has much shorter songs (many of which are not simple riffs)
While I think that this soundtrack has higher highs, I think that the SMG1 soundtrack is more consistent. While they may be the same length and the SMG1 soundtrack doesn't contain some of the greatest soundtrack songs of all time ... read more
Ok so today I want to listen to a bunch of music but didn't really know what I wanted to listen to. Then I started to think about albums that I had listened to but not rated. And that's when I realized
Today I will be rating video game soundtracks
I had done it once before, giving the mario 64 soundtrack an 82/100 (which will probably change bc it seems a bit biased) but I want to rate this soundtrack. Let me say one thing tho
THIS RATING IS FOR THE MUSIC ONLY. I see a lot of people talking ... read more
Holy fuck
I've never heard an AM project before but if they are all like this, I want to listen to them all. This is really, really fucking good.
EDIT: 94->91->90
The first two tracks were underwhelming to me so thank god every other song was so good
while i think the overall theming of the album can become a little dragged on especially on longer songs, and the second half of the album is a lot worse than the first half, this album is absolutely terrifying. perfect for october. this album scares me lmao
I have this and one other Rex album in my spotify library that i've been waiting to listen to but due to recent news I want to listen to it as soon as I can so I can kind of stop thinking about him and be done with him yknow? that might be stupid idk but i like his music and i like what i've heard from him so far. and while this album has plenty of charm, i think it falls flat in a quite a few areas
