This is Vince's worst project for me (from the ones I've heard). It falls flat and is boring for a good portion of it. I mean, I'd say I enjoyed about half of it while the other half left me bored.
Well then...
This was a really good and enjoyable album. Reminded me of In The Court Of The Crimson King and Ants From Up There but at its core, Hellfire is a great prog-rock record with good lyrics but amazing production. And While I was not the biggest fan of The title track, TRIATB, and Dangerous Liaisons, then stretch of tracks from Sugar/Tzu to Still is absolutely incredible.
This rating may go up in the future. But for now this is where I stand
EDIT: 83->91 fuck yes. 2nd best bm ... read more
I've never heard a worse piece of music in my life. Before I even start off on a rant about this the actual sound of this without knowing the context or listening to "A crow looked at me" is enough for me to give it a 0. I don't care if it's a joke album.
Anyways, to the person who made this, you are a piece of shit! not only does it seem you completely missed the point of the album and its point blank straight up lyrics, but you also seem to claim that Phil Elverum is trying to ... read more
I recently saw how popular and well recieved this album was, heard it was depressing indie folk and I also heard about it through "Playdough cooked in tea" which was on a "worst albums of all time" list. (haven't listened to it yet, listened to this first.)
It's been a while since a new album has made me cry. I wasn't bawling my eyes out but I was doing more than just tearing up. Something about being so blunt with a topic as serious as death just hits me harder than using ... read more
Although I can't relate to it, this album does a great job at expressing the devastation that comes with loving someone romantically and not being loved back. This album has absolutely incredible writing, best seen on songs like Door, Pearl Diver, Real Men, Wife, and Bag of Bones. Then there's mitski's vocals, another extremely strong point. Her voice is amazing and is just great on every single song. The instrumentals and quality of a debut record are great and even though it is my second ... read more
The first half, specifically up until Knicks, drags on in my opinion, but then picks up in energy and quality and is just better from that point on. However this LP is very incosistent. Great tracks mixed with some mid or even bad/boring tracks. Overall it's good but it could be much much better
Solid. Definitely overrated it on first listen which is why I waited to actually rate it but I'm definitely comfortable with this rating. Not perfect but very good.
The backstory makes this track so much better. Also, can we talk about how this song is actually really REALLY good besides the whole "poopity scoop" part??
yknow what? overhated. It's not that bad.
They killed a nft for tha album cover oh nah
OK THIS PART IS BEING WRITTEN BEFORE I HEAR THIS ALBUM AND REVIEW IT
ngl i've seen way too much about this, I wish I listened to it in 2018 but I'm going through low rated albums on this site to see if they are all that bad. IDC that wendy's is a corporation and I think profiting off this is stupid, I'm going into this with no bias and rating it on the MUSIC.
After:
oh nah.
wtf is this
I mean it's not 0/10 bad but like what, why. The production on the first three tracks are meh, clownin has ... read more
Just an incredible album. Not much else to say.
When this hits mainstream just know that I was here as one of the first
#biggerboot
EDIT: 91->83 Low replay value and it grew off of me
this is so good wtf?? i heard it was good but man i enjoyed this. im a sucker for brass beats but man this was great. other than a few bad spots such as Shady and On What and the one problematic line on hadouken (yet somehow still the best song on the project) this album truly amazed me. well done sosa
EDIT: I was gonna lower this score, but now that the worst song on the album (Shady) is off the album, I'm keeping this score
EDIT 2: 88->92 I love this
EDIT 3: 92->96 This is one of the ... read more
I severely underrated this on first listen, and that's the reason I didn't rate it. I truthfully just thought "why am i not enjoying this". Turns out this needed a bit more listening to for me to truly understand. Love it. Got two more albums in the BROCKHAMPTON discography (before the final album comes out) and I guess we will see if they keep up a 75+ only discography
Half of this album is hard hitting but a good amount of it leaves me bored. Ghostemane has done better. This might be the best produced album if we are talking quality wise but it just doesn't sound that incredible outside of that.
Also I hate ghoste's artist picture on spotify oh god why
