Hot Mulligan - You'll Be Fine
70

A pretty decent, albeit one-note, pop punk album full of catchy hooks and lots of fun ideas.

Fox Lake - Silence & Violence
50

A decent debut that works better when rooted in hip hop as opposed to the deathcore that makes for more than half of the record.

Falling In Reverse - I'm Not a Vampire (Revamped)
75

I should not like this as much as I do. I guess nostalgia is one hell of a drug

Regional Justice Center - Crime and Punishment
97

If you or your doctor have an erection that lasts more than 4 hours, pull over and call your dad immediately

An Albatross - We Are the Lazer Viking
86

It's like some 60s psychedelic band snorted a fuckload of cocaine and then listened to a bunch of 80s hardcore punk and immediately went and recorded the first few ideas they could think of. It's fucking awesome.

Norma Jean - Meridional
67

I want to like this album more but the mix is incredibly muddy which is very disappointing considering how great the first 4 songs are. There's not really a bad track on here, the album just feels very bloated, with most of the second half kind of just dragging along.

Coachwhips - Bangers vs. Fuckers
90

This album bangs AND it fucks. It F U C K S

Neutral Milk Hotel - On Avery Island
93

On Avery Island tends to dwell in the shadow of NMH's second and more influential record In The Aeroplane Over The Sea. But this album is also incredible in its own right. From the soothing lullaby-like melody that appears throughout the first half to the record to the 12 minutes of gradually fading noise that completes it, every piece within this weird psychedelic folk-fuck feels absolutely necessary. Oh, and Song Against Sex is the best Neutral Milk Hotel song.

The Mountain Goats - Tallahassee
93

A beautiful, heartbreaking - yet in the next breath, hilarious - masterpiece. The imagery on this thing is what makes the record so fantastic and the already great songwriting skills of John Darnielle greatly benefit from a full band backing.

Bring Me The Horizon - That's The Spirit
80

Sempiternal will always be my favorite but I enjoyed this far more than I had anticipated

Glassjaw - Coloring Book
93

False advertising! I ordered this and expected to receive a coloring book in the mail and all I got was this big cd. So mad 😠😤😒😑🙄😐😠

Melvins - Working With God
40

So this new Melvins album kind of just exists.. If this album had been released when I was like 13, I would have loved it. Unfortunately, I am no longer 13. I don't think this album is QUITE as awful as everyone seems to believe, but Buzz sounds incredibly bored on this. Not that they've ever really been the most diverse band, but christ these riffs sound so lazy and half-assed and not a single one really stood out to me in any substantially memorable way. Some of them (such as the main riff on ... read more

Charles Bronson - Youth Attack!
90

I love the part where he says IAGGHEGAFRTGJAFLSHKGBNSGDJGBJFSUIHDJBGAAPBEBEJBGHMAPOBYJDBHREHJHBEHEITBnadm,abISIHGBDHJSHGBSKSKSSO ODJFJSKDK
***not to be confused with the part where he says IAIFBFNGJFFJFKFKFKJFJKDSKLSODOIFIFBB88766UHJ JSSIHFN JSKJSKKkkkkkk lsdifdjdjL JDJDJ***

Suffering Hour - The Cyclic Reckoning
67

lofi riffs to study and relax to

The Wonder Years - Sister Cities
82

A fantastic album that gets some of its best moments drowned out by the abysmal mixing (this shit physically hurts to listen to. That's fine if it's noise music but not the wonder years). That being said, I still love the shit out of this album and it contains some of my favorite songs they've ever done and by far the best lyrics Soupy has ever written. And while the last three songs are probably the weakest of the bunch, it's still a pretty satisfying ending considering everything the band had ... read more

Coalesce - Ox
96

On Ox, Coalesce defied all logic and after 10 years of no new music, managed to make their best record yet. It's a brilliant fucking masterpiece and the fullest realization imaginable of everything that made them stand out as one of the greats in the 90s.

Taking Back Sunday - Louder Now
82

Their best album and its not even all that close

"As someone who loves both Converge and Daughters I'm genuinely wondering where on earth you pulled that comparison from. Aside from both being abrasive hardcore-based albums and using high pitched screaming vocals I really dont hear any similarities"
