Just finished this post-rock masterpiece. Swans, yet again perfectly layer every second of exceptionally well-crafted and put together album to the point of extreme impressiveness, even on songs like Screen Shot, Just a Little Boy, and Oxygen, that seem like there is just bass and drums in the recording and no other instruments, however, they continually make the incredibly memorable bass and drums sections with some incredible vocal performances by Michael Gira seem incomprehensibly ... read more
Hello! I'm reviewing this because the person behind the song recommended it to me! Shout-out to @Mellesteen, I just want to say thank you so much for recommending me such a great song. The song combines amazing elements of post-rock and shoegaze to create an atmospheric and dreamy wonderland that I get LOST in while in the experience of listening. The orchestra arrangements such as strings and choir are INCREDIBLY professional and get the PPP, Perfectly Pleasant Post-Rock Experience Approval. ... read more
I've listened to plenty and plenty of swans records' however this was my first listen and I truly believe the start to the trilogy was and incredibly important shift in direction, and coming back to this record and listening to this record, it's perfectly layered. Some amazing performances on this masterpiece, and some of swans' most interesting, creative, and unique songs on this thing. My favorite track on this thing is A Piece of the Sky which not only put me in a PPP, Perfectly Pleasant ... read more
This teaser for the new twenty one pilots album concludes me feeling incredibly irritated. These two criticisms that I have are the only things I can do with this besides the fact that I believe that this album will be incredibly mid or below average.
1. the mixing and production in the first minute of the track is incredibly amateurish, trying to build something that my followers will know is incredibly important to me, layers, however, they just end up with muddy, unintelligible, vocals.
2. ... read more
Throwing everything else out that was once good with Jacob's musical career, even though there really wasn't much, we get this jumbled together mess of emotions that I frankly don't wanna be a part of somehow being created by a very odd British man who always acts like he knows all the music theory in the world.
Listen, am I anti-music theory? F*** NO!!! The biggest opposite from that! I think that knowing music theory is the most important thing a musician can do to develop their ... read more
I've known this album for a long time and listen to it all the time, and I can say that it never disappoints with it's incredibly unique and groundbreaking prog rock virtuosity displayed in the genius hands of Robert Fripp. I rate it 98 and not 100 because Moonchild, while incredibly interesting, unique, and ahead of time, can be the tiniest bit exhausting for some time/. However still coming back it to it now, this thing is a prog-rock masterpiece with some of the greatest rock songs ... read more
This album by Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Ros is complete perfection regarding vocal performances and soft, light drums slathered with luscious layers of cold guitars drowning out your ears. Aside from other critically acclaimed post-rock albums like Godspeed You! Black Emperor's Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven, the deep, perfected, and immaculate layers of post-rock sound transcend the usual vibe that all perfectly-layered-post-rock gives to me; a soothing wall of powerfully ... read more
For the most part, I think this record is pretty good. I mucn more enjoy the Soften Bulletin, released in 1999, specifically the song "Race for the Prize," as I think it is quite one of if not the most well-layered and perfect neo-psychedelic rock of all time, no critiques are valid, it's completely perfect. Anyway, getting back to Yoshimi, this album is honestly pretty overrated. I was expecting something perfect and life-changing like the expectation from people talking about it. ... read more
an amazing collection of well layered acoustic and electric guitar pieces that hit every time during the listening experience. A very well rounded, fav track is Holland, 1945, which is an amazing catchy, perfect masterpiece that has me bopping my head and getting into the feel of the album. In the Aeroplane Over the Sea is an amazing experience almost similiar to a ballad that is filled with horns, guitars, light drums, and amazing lyrics and vocal performance. The lyrics on this thing are a ... read more
I listened to this thing a little while ago, and even then noticed there were a tiny bit of problems with this near masterpiece.
1. Walk On By is amazing, and is most likely the album's best song, but some parts during the part with all the instruments are literally fake-fade-outs! I mean it literally sounds like that the guy in the sound booth/studio was super bored and kept turning the volume up and down!
2. A HUGE problem with the song "By The Time I Get to Phoenix" has a 7-MINUTE ... read more
Believe me when I say that this record is not worthy of its length, AT ALL. However, there are some VERY good songs on this project, as Sweet Lovin' Man is easily the best song on the album and Sweet Lovin' Man is absolutely perfect, and really what I was originally expecting from this thing. I really don't like how this thing dips an extreme amount in quality after the first 2 disks. And I gotta say that the 2nd song from the 2nd disk 'Love is Like Jazz' (Me being the ... read more
An absolute Japanese Jazz Fusion Classic, and most likely the best Maysayoshi Takanaka album. This thing is layered with perfection from front to back, left to right. Every song is perfection among Japanese Jazz Fusion, and it will forever have a great place in my heart as a wonderful album.
This is easily the best Casiopea album, a compilation of all of Casiopea's greatest hits and best songs that were performed over 3 albums, Thunder Live, Mint Jams, and Casiopea Live, having some of the greatest improvisations and funky grooves throughout the entire masterpiece of a truly groovy album. no skips
Word of Mouth by Jaco Pastorius
A huge amount of amazing spiritual jazz, free jazz, and avant-garde jazz influences packed into a beautiful pie of already not-so-traditional jazz and jazz fusion compositions.
All compositions not only show Jaco Pastorius as an amazing bass guitar soloist, but also show his incredibly unique and creative songwriting style as a band leader, as he pushes the boundaries of anything written up to that point.
With the help of Jaco’s friend, and one of the best ... read more
