betcover!! - 時間 [Jikan]

First I heard of betcover

What an intro, so many great tracks on here. Jazzy, rocky, weird, Japanese. I would love to see these guys in concert

betcover!! - 卵 [Tamago]

Their best I think

Idk something about tamago just pulls me in. I love this one just a little bit more than the rest. Its like my favorite child of their releases.

Super pretty

What an Album. Its beautiful. Like I was floating LMAO

On a real note the production is out of this world, it's so well crafted with love and care. The vocals are amazing and the melodies are good enough to carry them through with some exceptions as highlights. Man when the sax comes in it really works, I just wish it had more presence throughout the record.

TLDR: Dreamy pop ambient yum -> 84

Yes - Relayer

RAHHH WTF IS GOING ON

What a chaotically beautiful album. Still prog rocky but man is it bizarre at times. Yes went from a super clean symphonic prog band on albums like close to the edge and the yes album to this absolutely madness inducing prog band. Man is it good. It has the magic that they were able to capture on the previous couple albums but mixed in with this aggressive and dirty weirdness.

TLDR: Good but weird :) -> 85

Note, I'm really happy this received a must hear ... read more

Listened on yt, so some of my critiques may not hold up due to compression (samlrc if you're reading this I want this on apple music so bad)

Holy was this pretty. Sonically and lyrically dense, with some great instrumental layering. The only thing that would push it into a 9 is better mastering, it feels small at times I wish it was swallowing me with sound.

Amazing beautiful record -> 89

(Edit) She added to apple music -> 95

betcover!! - 画鋲 [Gabyō]

holy rizz this band is skibidi goated like baby gronk

I feel like i cant express how much I love a band like this, underrated, jazzy, rocky, weird vocals, strange song structures, the list goes on. Betcover is slowly becoming my favorite band as of late. A weirdly addictive sound that they perfected in this live performance. Some nods to fishmans 98.12.28 on here too which I appreciate. honestly a great place to start in the discog of this underground band.

Jacob Collier - Djesse (Vol. 4)

Talent wasted

I would kill for some basic musical understanding, let alone understanding that rivals someone like Jacob Collier. I would hope with that knowledge I could imbue the music that I want to make with my heart and my soul. Maybe this is just coming from an elitist standpoint, but I dont think I would ever want to make generic cookie-cutter, stick to the formula music. Music that is too polished, too "perfect" yet lacks any substance underneath. All of my favorite albums ... read more

Genesis - Selling England by the Pound

I love prog rock. But wtf were British people smoking in the 70s

Edit: after hearing this a ton more it's perfect. No flaws to be found for me
2. Back side shrunk on me. Still gas
3. The battle of epping forest sucks. Rest of the album is perfect

Yes - Tales from Topographic Oceans
70

Holy bloat. I don't think I've listened to a record yet with as much stuffing as this one. It's got these beautiful spots of (almost) pure bliss that yes was able to capture in the 3 albums before this. But man are they sometimes few and far between. First 2 tracks are great. However the 3rd is where things take a nosedive straight onto the pavement. Man does that song take away from the record as a whole. It feels like I'm being teased with roundabout throughout the latter half of the track. ... read more

twenty one pilots - Overcompensate

I was a huge TOP fan at one point and I still think the lore is cool. I cannot stand Tyler's rapping sometimes, especially over poppy weirdly produced beats. That said it's still groovy and Josh Dun again carries with his rhythm section. its far from bad, and I like the direction they're taking the band back in after scaled and icy (that album sucked). I hope the album carries on trench and the lore and either ties it up or sets the stage for something more grand

The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead

🙂👍

So much to enjoy on here. Coming from a previous smiths hater I finally came around to listening to this masterpiece. Now it's still just pop, however it's super groovy and enjoyable through every track. Doesn't quite hit all the marks for a truly transcendental experience but man is it good.

This album keeps growing on me, it's the perfect balance of beautiful dream pop and gritty shoegaze. It just works so well and the songs are so well composed.
